Nick, they have acquisitions in the pipeline, so paying a higher level of dividend now not on the cards - all be it the divi should rise nicely over the next few years.

Clear medium term upside, barring something leftfield.

It is good update plenty of free cash need to up the divi as the current yield is lousy

Nick, unfortunately still in the background.

I'm not seeing much in the sector to tempt me to ATM,
if markets sell off into autumn then SHC and GPE.

Added a small amount.

If equity markets see renewed weakness this autumn SHC may be available
near or under £1 again. Longer term looks very strong barring some left field
calamity such as another pandemic.

Added a small amount on Thursday fwiw,
if markets sell off again then lower levels
very likely to be available. Medium term unless we are hit by something left field like
another pandemic, SHC should do nicely on a 3-5 year view.

@EI todays trading update ought to help put a prop under current NAV but we won't hear anything till the interims here.

Neither SHB nor CAPC paid a decent divi and not sure what level the new guise will give yet so it stays on watch. The big unprotected debt used to buy (they had no choice) the SHB bonds is my concern here as it has a ratchet up mechanism but at least they recognise that. Id say they've cut a good deal on the additional SWAP they've bought as well.

Anyhow tells you London tourism is doing OK.

Major headwind is rising longer term rates, but longer term
rates should peak over the next 6-12 months. ZIRP powered asset
price gains so it's a case of valuing SHC in a post ZIRP world.

if MBO goes ahead, you have got about 10% upside maximum in these & that excludes bid/offer price etc, so you may come out if you buy now at about break even.
Basically can see many more winners out there now with far greater potential.
SHC have been great for me, I still like the company, but as a stock I personally feel it has gone as far as it can now.

Peter Webb of Unicorn Asset Management was talking to Citywire about Eurodis Electron (ELH) which I also hold and which has also announced a tentative bid approach. This is what they say:

"However, a key stumbling block for some of these potential bids in the smaller companies arena could turn out to be the reluctance of large shareholders and management to accept low and opportunistic offers at the bottom of the trading cycle. This could act as a deterrent to the spread of bid fever but could also force higher premiums."

Note.... "low and opportunistic offers at the bottom of the trading cycle".

Only in SHC case it is the bloody management who are trying to take it off us on the cheap, not some outside party! Say NO!

They are not even talking about a credible premium to the market price for chrissake!

been away 2 weeks & this thread has become even worse.
Why is it that there are always a couple of posters who insist on posting absolute tosh (NSB is 4p, so SHC must go to that aswell)....is that how you value co's ? I usually look at mkt caps, that seems to be the trick.
Have you actually compared NSB results to SHC ? Have you seen the decline in NSB's cash, yet the increase in SHC's ?
I could go on, but what's the point.
sreed, stifado et al, you have your shorts or whatever. Good luck, just please post something less monotonous, maybe somethng to actually go with your reasoning (or is that just too simple).
