Whatever you think of SVT, that program was amateurish at best, pandering to populist ignorance.

The balance sheet stuff is accounting and nothing to do with dividends, which are a cashflow item.

Yet again shareholders are presented as some sort of greedy problem, by people who presumably benefit from pensions, but have no clue about how their pension savings earn income.

That is not unique to SVT - “billions given to shareholders” is a populist mantra.

I wonder if Sharkey knows.

7bn debt is not as big as other water companies and all FTSE companies carry debt. It's how they function. One of the biggest ftse 100 companies carries 44bn! In terms of the accounting it's not uncommon practice is it? This is just a shameless socialist nationalisation crusade. Pathetic.
