Agree and wouldn't take any notice of IC ☺️

Re sanctions we should be a side show for the US as issuing a waiver here will not affect their goal.

Thats good we arent importing iranian oil :)

I always found IC useless tbh. They report on a share that has already gone up and say buy. Or vice versa.

Always retrospective buy and sl tips lol

"Our goal is to get the import of Iranian oil to zero," a senior US administration official said Monday. "We are not looking to grant exemptions or waivers, but are glad to discuss requests and look at requests on a case-by-case basis."

Knowing IC that sounds about right lol.. Surely I would have thought holders with such concerns had long departed.

As Dana couldn't get any payment for Arran and the other partners didn't, apparently, want to pre-empt, then it suggests Arran has only marginal economics.

That, alongside Dana's parent's situation made a give-away sensible.

KNOC owns Dana Petroleum. At last report, Knoc's liabilities had risen to 7 times its equity. Paying out maybe $100(?) million for Arran development to gradually recover it over, say, 3 years would not make sense in its present financial situation.

Anyone know Rockrose? What's in it for them? Utilising existing UK tax losses perhaps?

Acquisition of 20.43% Interest in Arran Field, UK North Sea

RockRose Energy, the independent oil and gas company, is pleased to announce that it has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement to acquire a 20.43% interest in blocks, 23/11a, 23/16b and 23/16c, which contain the Arran field in the UK Central North Sea, from Dana Petroleum (E&P) Ltd (the "Acquisition") for a nominal consideration. RockRose will fund its share of the planned development of the Arran field through the Group's existing cashflow.

The Acquisition adds a further 5.7 mmboe 2P Reserves to RockRose and 3,500 boepd of initial production to the Group post development. RockRose will be partnered in the field by Shell UK, Zennor North Sea Ltd and Dyas UK. The acquisition does not involve Operatorship of the development.

It is anticipated that the field will be developed as a subsea tie-back to the Shell operated Shearwater platform.

It is anticipated that the Field Development Plan (FDP) will be filed with the OGA by end of September 2018..

Anyone else think it a bit odd to virtually give away 20% of Arran...??

I can see why the Azerbaijan waiver went through, because it would reduce southern European reliance on Russia. Rhum does too, so I think we get nearer the prize.

Hi Almsivi,

I think the big thing for me is the 'energy independence'
Another is the Gas/Oil. The language makes it seem the waiver was more forthcoming as it was gas.

I definitely read it as a positive.

Not even a mention of an escrow account for any profits?

It's important to note also, that Shah Deniz waiver is the result of an executive order (legal instrument exercised by the ofice of the POTUS) it is not the same as an OFAC license which is a Federal Arm of govt - in fact the two have nothing to do with each other. Someone will have gotten Trumps ear early doors about Shah hence why it's appeared now. OFAC will still be negotiating with UK / OGA / Serica what they need to do to qualify-for and be granted the waiver.

Whitehouse spokesman was asked specifically about Rhum but declined to comment, presumably because they don't know, yet.

I think it was just a journalistic aside to extend the article; I don't see it as a negative myself given the likely escrow requirement which may well be a pre-requisite for a Rhum waiver. That should be straightforward to repeat if indeed required which I would suspect it is as the bottom line is that the US doesn't want money flowing to Iran while sanctions are in place.

To be fair though, we don't know when they applied for the Azerbaijan one. I see it as a positive, I just don't understand why the article cast lack of news on Rhum waiver as a negative... Unless that's just what journos do.

Yes in UK waters & 5% of UK Gas supply must be big pluses, minus is that the escrow account will most likely be required which may be why we are still waiting for this waiver when BP have received the one mentioned above, in the end we should certainly get it though imho and given one BP waiver has now been issued I'm more confident than ever
