Presumably the intention is to cancel the shares acquired during the buyback. It will be interesting to see whether they will increase the dividend again. Coverage is about 1.1 so there is some headroom.🤔 |

The solution is to have both HL and ii. So when HL go barmy as they have done with this whole IT costs issue, I have ii to take the strain of things like SEQI. Also, ii are far more efficient when it comes to corporate events, paying due cash and enabling trading again.
That said, whoever makes these sorts of decisions at HL is a cretin. |
Totally agree - I'm split between Charles Stanley direct, and HL. The HL navigation and features are so much better than CSD, e.g. goodness knows where I'd find bonds on CSD. If you don't accept a price within 15 seconds, CSD also makes you start the buy/sell process (tick to say you've read T&C, KIIDs, insert password) again, which is irritating, compared to HL where you just hit requote.
But CSD didn't have problems with me buying companies like SEQI, they're cheaper for a full service provider than HL, customer service is less patronising than HL, and they also offer £50 of free trades every few months. |

I quite like A J Bell, they have a nice feature to calculate Capital Gains and you get
access to Shares mag for free.
I also have HL, II and Jarvis.
I split up after the Beaufort Securities went bust and they took some of the investors
cash to pay off creditors,.
However, now going to consolidate from 4 -> 3 and maybe then 3 -> 2. |
That's my problem Red Ninja; I have accounts with HL and ii and FAR prefer the user platform with HL - and if I need to contact them, they're efficient. But I have to say, this nonsense is testing my patience - particularly when other standard UK brokers don't seem to have an issue with it.
I have no experience of AJ Bell / any others for that matter. |
I know what you mean about HL, but then again I quite like the platform interface.
A J bell is not bad, but I still prefer HL interface.
I'm considering closing the HL account and moving it to ii for the cash incentive and cheaper dealing costs.
Maybe I'll get to like ii interface one day. |

Following an update by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), investment trusts are no longer aligned with the standard Packaged Retail and Insurance-based Investment Products (PRIIPs) framework. As a result, these trusts are no longer required to disclose their full costs and charges in the Key Investor Document.
Consequently, some issuers have opted to remove their investment charges from our website. As a distributor of these investment products, HL is required to adhere to consumer duty regulations. HL has adopted a business stance whereby any investment trusts that indicate ongoing costs as zero will be updated to sales only.
Further purchases of Sequoia Economic Infrastructure Income Fund (SEQI) will resume once the investment trust provides us with the necessary cost and charges data.
Investment trust issuers have been notified of HL's position on this matter, as have various industry groups.
We acknowledge that this is a complex issue, but we believe we have acted prudently and in compliance with the relevant regulations. |

They have hedged around a half of their floaters, so they have a decent balance. They seem to run this thing tightly, but pretty well. It is not deserving of a 9.1% yield, and I have a shedload.
Also, this is not a shedload because lots of other things are "closing down", but because of its own merits. I have barely increased the position from the reapplied cash of the likes of Ebox and EPIC etc., but simply from a cash pool now earning 4.75% rather than 5.5% (ERNS and CSH2). |
Yep - floating rate/low duration on credits with a low correlation to the consumer cycle is a good place to be |
Wage rises at 6% should presumably put pressure to keep interest rates higher for longer which should favour SEQI.
Given that with employers NI rise and minimum wage rise inflation is expected to go back over 3%.
