Been out all afternoon, thought there might have been a bit more "action", but 500k is a lot higher than most days recently.

i think you are right Edmund.
if this was MMs messing with the price, they would be concerned that there would be a run of sells from small punters.
after all, this is probably the highest bid price for months.

I'm offered 11.12p to sell. Er, no thanks... still, doesn't look like MM games.

Hi barryrog, thanx for the nudge.

I'm aware of the rise, but without news or a decent drop, I have staked my position here and don't plan to change it.

Another tick-up on a 10k buy ? Is this mm games, or is something afoot, LOL

Morning Barry, couple of interesting trades actually. 150k buy and then another 35k after the mm's moved the price up. If RAB don't dump some more it might imply we're near to a result. Then again, it might not !

if buying activity were to continue i would expect RAB to dump some more shares now the bid has been moved up.
if they don't, then we could be close to some news

A little bit of buying interest this morning and the price ticked up. Wonder if the mm's are trying to get some more back from RAB, or naybe there's a leak !!??

I don't really think they'll have any affect on the HYG situation. Any potential bidder will know what their top price for HYG is, and any future market projections will be taken into account.
I still think this will happen, just a matter of sitting and waiting.

I wonder if today's warnings from Countryside and Countrywide will hasten resolution of a bid for Honeygrove, or put potential bidders off for the time being.

The warning from Countryside looks a tad rich in context of an MBO attempt... hardly as if management is worried about the medium term!

Hi dunnIE

Sorry I should have made my point slightly differently.

RAB were disposing of shares regularly since the rule 10 announcement up until about 10 days ago, but no sells since. If the MM's are not holding much stock and RAB have decided to hold now as they may well be 'in the loop' re the potential bid then it would bode very well.

I suspect an uptick in buying into the weekend and next week, the answer will be whether RAB sell again or not. There are many wonderful deals done behind doors with large stakeholders in these type scenarios that we never really get to know much about.

Bottom line, I strongly fancy a bid and I think there is still an exciting percentage of upside in the short term.

Just my 10p worth though

Cheers
JD

John106,
without any disrespect to you, you may have just made the understatement of the year when you stated "it suggests no overhang or large amounts of stock held by the mm's". RAB Capital have been selling stock and they hold around 27m shares and 30m warrants, however i would not go into a panic as a lot of holders on the board feel it may be to facilitate a deal in some way, RAB are a relaxed seller not putting any downward pressure on the share price, although there is a feeling that it has not allowed the price to rise either.
Regards

For what its worth, just bought 2 chunks at 10.5p 55,400 & 43,882 Bid has ticked up on my last trade which is encouraging as it suggests no overhang or large amounts of stock being held by the MM's.

I fancy a bid to be really likely as this has to be a peach of a buy for one or two companies looking to grow via acquisition.

Just my 10p worth

barryrog,

Fair point! Fingers crossed then for a useful premium! Still speculative though.

hi edmund,
we probably don't risk a circular debate on semantics as there is only 3 or 4 of us using the thread.
i would say though that you need more than an informal approach for Rule 2:10 of the Takeover and Mergers panel to be invoked.

hi hawk,
just sitting back and waiting now on the outcome.
share price manipulation? ask yourself why the bid price would suddenly be raised at the end of the day to facilitate a large sale when there had been no activity all afternoon
i am feeling smug at the moment, after all, i bought 100,000 MPH shares in july 2003 at 7p.
speak to you soon.

Hybrasil, the share price was about 9p mid when the "approach" was made, so it isn't lower. In fact, if there hadn't been a convenient tip in Shares mag the day before it would have been lower than that.
