Indeed - but still US$10m isn't much. They also need the cash to develop SD as it appears to be shaping up to have a lot of potential extra resources to go after which have an increasingly higher return on investment per mcf produced to the major sunk costs being out of the way now (CPF etc).

Not all acquisitions are $1 billion deals. They could do something where they pay a small amount upfront and the rest could be deferred payed from cash flow (exactly how they were planning Egypt)

Given that SDX is cash generative in the current oil price environment they need to get a move on a buy some diversified production. The sales won't be on forever.

Oil price makes a difference to the non SD or Morocco assets. At 40/bbl oil is probably CF neutral in Egypt due to gov take. But I agree fixed price gas is the main offering here

OilinvestorAl, I think something like 80% of SDX's projected revenue is to come from fixed-price gas production. The oil price makes very little difference to them now.

LOL if you want to know about heavy write offs you should take a look at the PMO accounts ! I don't hold any SDX but this is now added to my WL. Ever since PAUL left Mark seems to be steadying the ship. Can see these making a run up into the 20s oil price permitting ...

Those are some heavy write-offs in the accounts,

.What's caught your eye? You are talking about SDX accounts?

Those are some heavy write-offs in the accounts, which has the benefit of clearing the balance sheet so the next H2 results will make the company look like a cash machine.

However this will just be temporary: the company's still got just $10 million in cash, pays no dividend, still has very poor customer take-up in Morocco after years of trying to sell piped gas, and SDX seems doomed to keep spending almost as fast as it earns, just to keep replacing its depleting wells. I got out a year ago, after the fiasco over the South Disouq facility, and on these results and discoveries I'm not going back in.

Be very disappointing if they don't despite juicy options

haha, maybe. The directors here don't usually bother as they get fat, juicy options arrangements.

75-100p at this time is crazy talk. 30p is my 12 month target.

At the current time, with current production and reserves and realistic and known growth prospects I would say that 75-100p would materially overvalue SDX. I say this as someone who owns a lot of SDX stock. That said this company has everything it needs to self-fund organic growth (and some smaller inorganic growth) and everything it needs to get financing at very good terms for inorganic growth opportunities it cannot self-finance. SDX will not be diluting shareholders for anything other than transformative inorganic growth opportunities. In short the downside risk here is very limited and upside potential is large.

It's not strange to me. They are very good at finding and producing hydrocarbons. However they have been unable to articulate (to me at least) how this is going to generate tranformational value for shareholders. I'm hopeful that they will do something about this.

You'd think these would be worth 75-100p by now. Very strange.
