15/3/2023 10:32 | bulls... are you really sure you are in a new bull market? | worldwidet
10/3/2023 14:04 | Oh dear you're wrong mginvestor.I hold some 40 stocks worldwide,a good few in the US,but sround 25 in the UKI have no agenda in respect of SDI.On the contrary,i wish them the very best especially since i know senior management very well from old.As for dear old Volex.I don't hold many (gladly) bit of an enigma that one.I have held SDI for a few years now since they were around 50p and still retain a good sized holding but have taken good profits over that period. | steeplejack
10/3/2023 12:09 | Sweetunicorn/Worldwi I assume your investing universe consists of just a few stocks? SDI and VLX being 2. I have to ask why is it that you choose to comment on SDI on a day when the general market is down due to SVB fears? Is SDI's debt really that high? There are plenty of UK companies that have sig debt but we don't see you comment on them? They are also active on the M&A trail but you're not concerned? To me its becoming clear that there's an agenda here and its not just to 'shoot down the bulls' or 'give a balance take' ------ just noticed WorldwideT deleted his posts. Guess what? That is exactly what Sweetunicorn used to do :-O Just some advice - time your posts when we are either at an ATH or an ATL - I'll take them more seriously - honestly. ATB | mginvestor

10/3/2023 08:57 | There's a growing consensus that the macro outlook is increasingly choppy. The optimism that characterised January has evaporated. The bank SVB has real problems that reminds of the days of Northern Rock and the banking crisis.SVBs primary depositors/customers are tech orientated in California.SVBs problems are undermining Wall St.Recent updates from a number of companies mention deteriorating forward order books.I presume that such fears are now washing over SDI after recent strength. | steeplejack
06/3/2023 10:32 | This morning's government announcement of a new Science and Technology Framework includes plenty of funding which should benefit SDI at some point: Some extracts: "£250 million investment in 3 truly transformational technologies to build on the UK’s global leadership in AI, quantum technologies and engineering biology, so they can help a range of industries tackle the biggest global challenges like climate change and health care. This forms part of our commitment to the 5 technologies within the science and technology framework, which also includes semiconductors and future telecoms" "up to £50 million to spur co-investment in science from the private sector and philanthropists to drive the discoveries of the future, subject to business cases. The government is already talking to Schmidt Futures, a philanthropic initiative of Eric and Wendy Schmidt, about additional support of up to $20 million as part of this work" "a £50 million uplift to World Class Labs funding to help research institutes and universities to improve facilities so UK researchers have access to the best labs and equipment they need to keep producing world-class science, opening up entirely new avenues for economic growth and job creation" a £10 million uplift to the UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund, totalling £50 million, to boost the UK’s next tech and science start-ups who could be the next Apple, Google or Tesla" | rivaldo

21/2/2023 09:31 | SDI are presenting live via Sharesoc in London on March 29th: A few quick thoughts about Chell Instruments. Chell should experience a sharp recovery as the aerospace sector gathers steam again. But there's been some interesting recent news flow from Chell which I suspect hasn't been posted here, particularly this first story: Whats emerging in engineering in 2023? "Chell in 2023 Here at Chell Instruments, 2022 was an exciting year, supporting engineers with many new projects – and a number previously delayed by the pandemic. 2023 looks set to be another exciting year, with many sectors now back to a new-normal and keen to deliver the engineering innovation the world demands. We ourselves have a number of key new product launches planned for 2023 and are set to be involved in supporting exciting projects in sectors including aerospace, motorsport and pharmaceuticals." Chell Instruments help German company trailblaze electric jet aircraft: Changes to F1 ground effect rules drive demand for Chell Instruments DAQ range: Chell Instruments highlights of 2022: "As you can see, we’ve had a busy and eventful year. And, next year looks set to be just as exciting and successful with a number of new product launches, exciting projects and key collaborations." | rivaldo
17/2/2023 15:42 | Nearly a couple of years since we were at 200. Happy days! | our haven
16/2/2023 18:40 | A further 182,300 shares only reported after the close as bought at 198p - from 9.00 am when the offer price was 195p. Very, very keen :o)) | rivaldo

16/2/2023 15:19 | Back to highs? | arregius
16/2/2023 08:10 | There's not been a single post here for 12 days, yet the share price has risen and risen during that time. I really wouldn't tie yourself up in knots about bulletin board posts :o)) The 13th February RNS showed that Danske had sold a mighty 8,919 shares! Which might explain why I didn't bother posting it. At least this time Danske have bought a further 60,000 shares - and crossed above the 8% threshold. Sweetunicorn/Worldwi EDIT - nice to see someone just bought 33,150 shares at 198p - a full 3p above the current 195p published offer price. Very keen. | rivaldo
16/2/2023 07:53 | The sale that Danske Bank made 2 days earlier and was reported with an RNS did not get any attention from you here. You only pull out what fits into your bullish scenario. Why didn't you mention the RNS of 13 February when you discuss every RNS here? Let's be surprised what Danske Bank's intentions will be in the end. | worldwidet
16/2/2023 07:28 | New holdings RNS - Danske Invest continue to buy here, and they now have over 8%, with 8.33m shares: | rivaldo
04/2/2023 14:39 | A couple of positive mentions in Moneyweek. Solid fundamentals to provide growth in the years to come. Recently bought back in and looking for a long term hold. | petes5

03/2/2023 16:22 | A bit more colour on the telegraph article by Keith Ashworth-Lord in the latest update from the fund: Top of the leader board was SDI Group (+22.9%), a position we finished building during December. This rose on the back of our investment thesis being featured in the Daily Telegraph’s Questor column. It was also a company we visited in person during the month, spending the day at recent acquisition LTE Scientific at Greenfield near Oldham. LTE was founded in 1947 and has built a niche in sterilisation and decontamination equipment, making profit before interest and tax of around £400k a year. With a bit of investment, this could improve materially in the years ahead. SDI’s secret sauce is its ability to make value-enhancing acquisitions at sensible prices often below the gaze of private equity. We were eager to learn more about the M&A process from the standpoint of a vendor. The businesses had known each other for a number of years but it wasn’t until last year that the majority shareholder was ready to sell. As part of the process, LTE had spoken to a number of would-be acquirers (including, in this case, PE) but regarded SDI as the right partner to support the future growth of the business. This preferred buyer advantage is often quoted as an attribute of Berkshire Hathaway’s success in attracting potential acquisitions. | mginvestor
03/2/2023 14:15 | I don't normally respond to posts but re 1776 how on earth do you make a connection between Directors selling in October and Dankse Bank purchasing in January? How were the directors supposed to know who was going to buy shares 3 months after they sold them let alone undertake due diligence on whoever it was that might have bought them? And as for what Danske did in 2017, if we applied the same principles to all banks then you would be hard pressed to find a bank to deposit your money with. | lignum
02/2/2023 12:50 | I find Danske Bank accumulating from 7 to 8% reassuring. Fils | fillspectre
02/2/2023 08:36 | As a long term holder of Halma stock,i find the appointment of a new NED, who has long worked for that company, reassuring | steeplejack
01/2/2023 12:07 | (1) Danske Bank have bought 1.3m shares in the last month, so have been buying in the market (not from management). This also helps explain the recent price rise, along with the Telegraph buy tip from the Chief Analyst at Sanford DeLand's Free Spirit Fund (2) Quite what the recent share buying decisions of Danske's Investment Management arm have to do with the historic money laundering antics of Danske's banking division is beyond me, but I'm happy to be corrected As I've repeatedly posted, there are obvious potential challenges for SDI, and some of these have been articulated by Sweetunicorn/Worldwi | rivaldo |
