14/2/2008 09:07 | I'll be waiting for the interims on the 26th March 2008. In my experience of bottom picking there is always far more time than you think to get in. | rcturner2
12/2/2008 21:30 | Frauddy: "I suggest this will it-won't it go bust phase is coming to an end now - if the co doesn't go bust, (unlikelier since the last small director purchase - means trading must be still in line) Err but didn't the chairman buy £500K worth at 110p or so? That wasn't much of a guide to current trading was it? CR | cockneyrebel
12/2/2008 21:12 | ydderF: I don't think ScS management has been through anything like this before. The last time was 15-20 years ago. My recollection is that the retail recession lasted for years with many casualties along the way. Many retailers only survived because their competitors went to the wall first. I think LAN will disappear as fashions are likely to move away from leather. How quickly will depend upon their financial strength. If ScS can survive longer than LAN then there should be money to be made but I am not buying yet. I think we heading for a period of higher inflation as China and India consume more commodities and as their exchange rates strengthen against the pound. The BoE will use interest rates to support a falling pound and to tackle inflation. House prices are not sustainable at current levels. Any correction is likely to be a long and drawn out. A house is only worth what a buyer can afford. If I am wrong and sales recover then I will buy. If I am right then I expect to buy sub 10p before the end of the decade. | darrin1471
12/2/2008 09:57 | Thks ydderf. I tend to agree with you and feel the fall has been much overdone I'll be very happy with anything close to 100p! f | fillipe
12/2/2008 04:31 | I suggest this will it-won't it go bust phase is coming to an end now - if the co doesn't go bust, (unlikelier since the last small director purchase - means trading must be still in line) it will be 110p+ even if it is treading water for the next 24 months - this co was floated years ago at 130p on much smaller sales and outlet numbers, has been around for longer than this as a private co, and been through these cycles before, although not as sudden as the current one, and come out fighting and expanding.....why should it be any different this time? | ydderf
12/2/2008 00:08 | From what I can see there are very few shares in "free circulation" i.e shares not owned by instis or directors and there doesn't seem to be any selling going on. E.G, Todays trades are almost all buys, with the share price slowly recovering against a poor market background. Someone must be quietly confident here? f | fillipe
10/2/2008 17:27 | loganair, look back a few posts to 267. You will find that Nicholas Berry has a controlling interest in Stancroft Trust Limited. He has also been picking up stock in LAN. Trying to force a merger perhaps? Berry is deputy chairman of Cluff Gold. He has a major holding in EXP and holdings in other listed companies such DISL and SVN. | typo56
09/2/2008 09:37 | I see some one's positive about, thinks there is some value in ScS at the current share price Announced today, Stancroft Trust, who ever they are have increased their stake, which they hold Directly to 4%, then to 5%. | loganair
04/2/2008 09:05 | Do we think the director has just wasted £14K ...? If they survive this year then buying at this price will probably work out OK. But ... | kiwihope
01/2/2008 11:59 | Market Cap. now just £14.06 million. New sofas from SCS, Land of Leather et al are a luxury item for the sub-prime brigade ... if your washing m/c goes bang you go to Currys and sign up for a new one - if the sofas looking a bit shabby - tough ! Q | quidzinn
31/1/2008 09:03 | Sold. Relationship over! Good luck all. | barn owl
30/1/2008 21:57 | Sounds like scs !!! used to work for them !!! there out of ideas and haven't a clue what to do | warrenc
30/1/2008 21:56 | yep, might be time for me to take profits if this starts to slide again - US looks up poo-creek without a paddle. Core inflation now running at 2.7% and they have just cut interest rates by 125 basis points in a week. Not a word about inflation in the Fed statement - oh dear - don't mention the war! CR | cockneyrebel
30/1/2008 21:31 | they got rid of a load of store managers yesterday and put all bottom book sales staff on warnings, measure of desperation | csmwssk1
24/1/2008 16:53 | Interesting holdings RNS from LAN today. It looks like Nicholas Berry (Stancroft Trust Limited) has been picking up stock there too. | typo56
23/1/2008 07:29 | Morning all Missed yesterdays rise amongst all the excitement elsewhere. Most welcome. | holmess
23/1/2008 04:07 | Stakebuilding.. | ydderf
22/1/2008 19:41 | Why the rise today? Surely it can't be only due to the prospect of ScS relacing a few of the sofas which got soaked in the recent floods.....or can it!? | fillipe
22/1/2008 15:11 | There is some life in the ole dog today! Good luck all. | barn owl
15/1/2008 08:46 | I would buy in at 7.5p. 5 times 2010 earnings is 15p. I want a 50% discount from that. | rcturner2
14/1/2008 19:01 | Certainly is... | loverat
14/1/2008 13:38 | Update from Dresdner Kleinwort, Hold Recommendation. Uploaded a copy here: Expecting year end cash around £10m. (They upgraded to BUY from HOLD at 431p in March 2007 :) ) | taylor20
14/1/2008 12:58 | Trouble is CR it doesn't matter what your sales are if you are making a loss. Come the interims it could be bad news, making a loss, falling sales, cash turning into debts. If the share price is the sum of future profits at the moment it could still be overvalued. | rcturner2 |
