14/4/2007 10:13 | Struggling sweets to toys retailer woolworths is on its knees.Every man and his dog knows that. Icelandic investor Bauger, which sits on 10pc -plus,has had more than enough of the groups underperformance and this week told management led by chief executive Trevor Bish-Jones, to get their act together. Before it gets the chance to do so, the boys in dark glasses believe a cash rich private equity buyer will strike while the iron is hot and put the group out of its misery. Indeed rumours of an imminent £655m,or 45pa share cash offer, had buyers climbing aboard and the shares touched 31 3/4p before closing 1p better at 31 1/4p on turnover of 43m,almost nine times thirsday's level. Two years ago Apax partners pulled out of a £837m,or 58.2p a share bid, for woolies at the eleventh hour after studying the groups books. Apax at the time: it was unable to confirm certain certain key cash items . woolies has ever since been suffering from growing competition from leading supermarkets.Last month it reported a 62pc collapse in full year profits to £16m following a 6.2pc fall in like for like sales. Its retail business continues to come under increasing pressure and analysts believe its days of independence are definately numbered. 13/4/2007 04:55 | good morning uk -- well it would be silly to suggest the shares should be sold at the bottom end of its trading range -when its only future is a completely new team of managers or to simply be taken over and broken up - would it ? this company in the light of its recent past trading history --is no longer in a strong position - to survive under this current management - its own brokers and advisers can hardly offer woolies a sound defence against a predator ---with the shares trading at 30p should an offeror appear -- practically every city institutional investor is urging or hoping baur will make a corporate raid on this company -- its simply a question now of time before he gets the kkr break up specialists involved again -they are simply raring to have another go having already done its homework on this outfit \o/ regards harry and the boys in dark glasses | harry punter

13/4/2007 04:52 | uknighted - 12 Apr'07 - 23:47 - 4765 of 4767 There goes Harry, doing what he does best - RAMPING!. Regards UK | harry punter
13/4/2007 04:45 | harry punter - 12 Apr'07 - 22:38 - 4764 of 4767 edit according to sources --about 18 months ago the board rejected a 50p ps offer --being made from kkr -and this was common knowledge in the city -- well its strikes me that woolies has failed to enhamce the company performance or image --it has failed miserably to improve shareholder value in fact it has let its shareholders down badly -- if i was bauger with 10% plus --i may well be inclined to resurrect those talks --if he isn't in the process he would be a fool imho to miss this opportunity while the shares are flat on its back -i believe its only a matter of days weeks at most b4 --we hear of an another similar type approach for the company --probably again from kkr -- dyor regards harry and the boys in dark glasses -- | harry punter

22/3/2007 12:56 | off topic ZOX ---295p-300p ZINCOX -----some punters use brokers for info i prefer to use a geologist as well --- i am very confident short term about these shares trading much higher around the £4--£5 level should see a bullish trading up date - long term objective a buy up to £7-50p | harry punter
21/3/2007 17:00 | harry thanks for your post and insite but its all ifs and buts, i hope your right, so ive waited this long another three years wont matter i surpose. | plast
21/3/2007 02:53 | plast --it was never going to happen overnight--yeah of course it's a dissapointment that it's developments have taken so long -but like most of leo's involvements they are all geered towards the long term - look at futuragene its a five year programme -- minster pharma -- again --at least another two years and its taken three already although he isnt involved with MpM --but its still out of the same stable my own view is altrue will make major progress in the next few months - falcon will become a major firm of stockbrokers in a few years mainly in the uk -- eventually -- global ---it needs the correct infrastructure and regulatory controls to compete in this competive world of finance -- this all costs money to succeed to become a market leader -- i think leo has the acumen and all the skills coupled with his city contacts means he is very capable and well focused on all these points its a question of time thats all -- i know that most associate stockbrokers in the city are pi$$ed off with the FSA and its attitude towards a free market place --over regulation and anti competition policies under the current regulatory enviroment--deter investment and many stockbrokers are starting to look to join a firm with a new and positive direction -- and this is where i see the future and altrue succeeding as very few firms will offer commission associates what i believe this company is starting to devolope - i hope that under the parent holding company-- altrue eventually developes an asset management business --as this is where most of the real value of a stockbroking business is calculated --ie. its fee income generated and its gross funds under management - the potential is huge \o/ continue to remain patient plast - --as this company has all the right ingredients to surprise everyone regards harry and the boys in dark glasses | harry punter
20/3/2007 16:54 | harry , you still pumping up this company, its gone down from 2p over the last 2 years, and not been back since, this is one bloody share this is. and yes i do hold this and have for three years amost and still waiting . | plast

20/3/2007 06:49 | i wouldnt be surprised to see a major acquistion (RTO) in the next few months coupled with a share consolidation ? -- | harry punter
14/3/2007 08:19 | Alltrue investments sooner or later leo knifton is going to transform this little company --and i suspect it will become a firm of stockbrokers recruiting only the best broking skills and corporate finance individuals in the country -- or it may become an asset management group --or both -- whatever happens to this company in the coming months -it certainly has a rosy future -----personally i rate leo kniftons skills and his connections therefore i strongly rate these shares as a strong buy for the future -an almost certain 10 bagger and a share to hold on to --imho - dyor regards harry and the boys in dark glasses | harry punter
13/3/2007 07:59 | I have changed my mind on these shares and feel we could easily get back to the 2p mark. But dont think it will be just yet. | leadersoffice
12/3/2007 16:32 | I really hope some of the uplift here will read across to that other member of the same stable ADP Adorian. | sandbank
12/3/2007 15:09 | Chaps Take a look at BRF (Bright Future) only 47 million shares issued - small market cap - The've just appointed new brokers and advisors and someone has been steadily accumulating any loose shares! Last interims comment was: "We have looked at a number of opportunities in a variety of sectors to date and will continue to search selectively for the right value proposition for the Company. We anticipate that the current non-executive Directors will be compensated by the issue of warrants in the Company for the successful identification and acquisition of a new trading operation. Our aim is to have completed this process and seek shareholder approval for the acquisition as soon as possible PRIOR TO 31 March 2007" approx 3 weeks left - no brainer IMHO (DYOR) | the_professor
12/3/2007 13:18 | Just a guess presently SW. I just am recalling snippets of memory from 2-3 years ago. Times change and technology keeps moving on. I could be a way off target but then I usually am. Gambling is the new poor man's tax! | valentine |
