I don't see these going lower. Think they are a bit "late cycle" and there's been a bit of recent interest in them.

Any up-to-date thinking on SCPA? Just wondering if they might be at the bottom with perhaps a bit of upside in sight?

hopefully all the bad news is in the price, don't really expect too much from the results on 28th may, however, decent cost cutting and stream lining the business should provide some confidence.still has a decent cash position and with sales for 09 possibly at 8 times current mcap it still appears reasonable value

crookney, this is probably next for the 50 per cent collapse which your appalling picks seem prone to, you should sell while you can imho

I agree that there are many apparent bargains around. I articulated why I thought that this one was different - lots of apparent bargain shares have large debt; large US dollar exposure; dodgy market outlook. Scapa looks to me to be one to tuck away and, even if no takeover activity happens, it should benefit strongly when the market recovers. I am not saying that it is the only share that is attractive but it appears to be doing everything right.

Frauddy - if you're knocking it you're buying it, like you were knocking AXN, MLIN, JSG.

brechin and others, how is a p/e of 9 and 3% yield a bargain? the market is awash with 'cheap' single figure p/e companies - they might seem cheap but surely the reason is that the market has been 'dear' for the past two or three years at least.

why would you buy this 'cheap' share rather than for example, CAU, MLIN, AXN, MKS, etc etc......or any of them at all - they are all going down imho

after the excitement of the results and the directors purchases they will slip into oblivion again for months and spend that time drifting down again towards 20p - they have no reason to do anything else, crookney knows this well too

brechin, i agree with your comments though i feel that the share is off radar for many and may well retreat before re rating. I continue to hold.

Excellent results from this company announced this morning. It appears to be well run and is tackling its legacy and market issues with vigour. The resumption of dividends makes this a bargain on a PE of about 9, a yield of just under 3%, and confidence in the future. It derives a large part of its income from Europe so the pound's drop against the euro makes it an attractive beneficiary of the currency windfall.

I expect a major rerating once Mr Market wakes up. A price target of 45p (compared with 28p today)even in these stock market conditions would still not make it expensive. With cash in the bank, and the pension issue capped, it would also be an obvious takeover target.

So with little downside, the potential would appear to be all one way!

I hold shares in this company.

A very nice move of late CR. Two funds repositioned themselves yesterday and the market liked that it would appear. Glad i held on! Very quiet here as well which is usually a good sign. WGB a little muted yesterday i thought after very good results. I guess anything connected with retail has to work very hard to impress. Lets hope the analyst presentations went well and give the share price a little help.

Still holding my WGB - it's a pain of a stock tho. Must be a costant seller. I think every time I post on the thread it ticks down (like I jog someone's memory to sell it) so I've just sat toght and waited, at leas horiozontal is better than down in this market.

Results date out - dare I mention it on the thread? :-)

I still hold a small amount worth about 8k. Happy to sit on them for the moment although it has been a fairly poor investment thus far, a bit like my WGB!

Would seem strange bad news after a director buy. Perhaps the director bought because there was stock about and he took the opportunity. As it's the end of the tax year itmight just be a tax seller.

I actually sold out here in Jan Fozzie. A falling market like that and it was important to get a bit of cash into the bank to buy stuff on the lows - SCPA just happened to be a poorer performer that got in the firing line.

yep, only appears to be smalls buys that have moved it but obviously not many sellers.

Yep, not an easy market - feels like a genuine bounce tho - who knows, CDO's not as bad as we thought, oil plummeting might cause lower inflation and even lower interest rates - it's amazing how fast a market can go from suicidal to euphoric!! :-)
