18/3/2020 07:21 | It does apply SPOB. | goliard
18/3/2020 07:20 | Strange RNS from SBRY this morning Somehow I don't think the business rates holiday will apply to a multi billion pound supermarket company like Sainsbury RNS Number : 5436G Sainsbury(J) PLC 18 March 2020 18 March 2020 J Sainsbury plc Business Rates J Sainsbury plc notes yesterday's statement from the Chancellor of the Exchequer, in which it was stated that the government will be "giving all retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in England a 100% business rates holiday for the next 12 months". We welcome the support for these businesses and we are awaiting further clarification on the details of this change. J Sainsbury plc paid UK business rates of GBP567m in the financial year to 9 March 2019, of which c.GBP500m related to stores. | spob
18/3/2020 05:58 | Next step - ration books To stop people coming back 10 minutes later and buying the same items again | spob
18/3/2020 05:56 | Wouldn’t be surprised if the government told them to start rationing products. | spob
17/3/2020 18:15 | Did a toilet inspection at my local Sainsbury's today and noticed all the bog rolls were there. | tradejunkie2
17/3/2020 16:54 | Well asda are closing 24hr stores overnight. Which is a move in the right direction. Though just following Wal-Mart I suspect. Sbry already do this.. at least in my area. | games
17/3/2020 15:11 | Jeniferzz, Thankyou, for the above. I have given up with the supermarkets replying more, as I could be waiting far too long. I have instead contacted a major union. Maybe more folk should contact supermarkets, or others. Thanks again. | games
17/3/2020 13:53 | You will be lucky to get toilet rolls at anytime here. Same as spod and would add alcohol to that list with pubs shutting. Was in a big Sainsburys this morning and shelves were literally emptying infront of your eyes. Virtually no canned veg left or baked beans and other tinned stuff like Ravioli and spagetti All bread gone too. Urgent measures are needed now. | tim 3
17/3/2020 13:32 | Use public toilets | neilyb675
17/3/2020 12:20 | not in my supermarket definitely not everything full up some items in stock yes but certain items get bought up pretty quick from what I have seen | spob
17/3/2020 11:34 | If you go when the shop actually opens. You will notice that everything is full. Hand gels will be widely available just like before in about 3 months time. Sunday morning Wilkinsons full of toilet rolls, Yesterday the pound shop full of toilet rolls, and today Savers full of toilet rolls. There seems no problem to me. Its just the timing of shoppers is the problem. | abeygale
17/3/2020 11:23 | even pet food very low because of the long shelf life | spob
17/3/2020 11:15 | at first it was just pasta and tinned foods and toilet rolls that i noticed were empty now seeing either no stock at all or very very low stock across the whole store in many different sections/aisles pain killers/flu medicines/paracetemo vitamins nappies toilet rolls tissues all tinned foods pasta rice eggs potatoes cereals flour bread oil long life milk tea coffee biscuits crisps frozen foods drinks water etc | spob
17/3/2020 10:32 | Totally agree to many selfish scumbags. Wouldn't be funny if there was a house fire and fire services said "fire took hold very quickly because of all the toilet paper in the house" | kickingking
17/3/2020 10:28 | Imagine being an elderly person living on your own right now and 1, being told to self isolate for 3 months 2, then going to the supermarket and not being able to buy the basic essentials because of the selfishness of others Supermarkets should think about controlling this selfish behaviour | spob
17/3/2020 10:15 | Interesting info about Spain Sainsburys have done none of the above as far as i can see (please correct me if i am wrong) Those shelves will not be restocked properly unless some form of rationing or restriction or policing of customers is put in place just my humble opinion big crowd outside my local Sainsbury before it opened again this morning people are genuinely and rightly concerned/scared about being able to get the basic goods they need and want to buy especially elderly people because others are being allowed to panic buy as much as they want | spob
17/3/2020 09:18 | Games Good points I agree with you I am a UK citizen currently stranded in Spain which is lockdown. In regard of supermarkets here the system is this : 1 All staff wear gloves and masks, 2 The stores are regularly cleaned 3 The public queue up a metre apart outside and it is one in one out. 4 A staff member policies the door and numbers inside are limited 5 The shelves are on average around 80 to 90% capacity 6 They are restocked daily 7 There is little panic buying It is not a request of the Spain govt it is law here now.........one person to do the shopping and then go home. Everyone gets it here, it works. Food Retail staff are now essential workers and should be treated as such by the UK govt and their employers, No food equals less immunity more infections civil unrest and so on. | jenniferzz
17/3/2020 07:59 | and i wouldn't bother with Sainsburys online as an alternative right now looking at the shelves in Sainsburys, I estimate you will be lucky to get 40% of what you order | spob
17/3/2020 07:57 | yes goverment says avoid crowds pubs theatres etc supermarkets are packed full of people | spob
17/3/2020 00:15 | I've posted this on the tsco bb, but applies to all. I will just add here, that I have been in contact with some leading supermarkets, and some are on going. I also know staff in some. I have advised staff that I know are at quite a high risk to go on the sick, because it is clear to me that supermarkets are failing in their duty of care...I hope this changes fast. ....... Supermarkets are going to end up with no staff. Staff are getting fearful, staff sickness will rise just to get out of what they rightly perceive as a danger zone. The supermarkets have handled it badly, though not helped by the government and media. it is their own fault. | games |
