03/5/2006 06:48 | Apr 27, 2006 ING upgrades SABMiller (SAB.JO) to hold from sell, and lifts target to 1,100p from 840p following better than expected 1Q results from Anheuser-Busch (BUD). Says SABMiller will benefit from the same strong US pricing and larger than expected US profit pool. Notes the company is valued 7% above beer peer group, but believes there is improving sentiment on the US beer market. Shares +0.9% at 1,180p. (KHO) Apr 12, 2006 Collins Stewart upgrades SABMiller to hold from sell after its trading update. Says worst fears have been exaggerated, with accelerating volumes driven by Europe, Africa and Asia. Shares have underperformed both the market and rival brewers in recent months, but forecasts now look well protected. "With numbers not looking aggressive, rand strength continuing and soft South Africa comparables to look forward to, it seems inappropriate now to retain the sell recommendation." Apr 12, 2006 Cheuvreux reiterates strong buy recommendation on SABMiller (SAB.JO) after trading update. Says organic volume growth was ahead of expectations despite poor summer weather in South Africa. "It remains our preferred pick, with the most upside, within the UK and European beverages sector," the brokreage adds. | intrinsic value | |
