Key Points

European markets are expected to open lower Monday as the region largely goes into shutdown mode to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

London’s FTSE index is seen 122 points lower at 5,244, Germany’s DAX is seen 307 points lower at 8,917 and France’s CAC is seen 138 points lower at 3,985, according to IG.

These sort of massive events can take a day or two to be properly reflected in the market. So not surprised that US futures have not yet responded positively, especially given their huge 9.5% gains last thing on Friday.

I'd expect a positive overall response during the course of the week.
