I suspect Michel Barnier hasnt got too much to worry about.

No doubt the €U apparachicks will have a Zil limmo at their beck and call should they need to get to a hospital.

I doubt there would be any shortages (medics, ventilators etc) either.

Lots of conversations with friends and work colleagues on jobs. So many being lost in service industries that will not come back quickly. Profit expectations need to be reset on stocks completely.

That China can report no new cases illustrates that when it comes to Global disease, a totalitarian state is much better placed than a Western democracy..

Cityam;

Boris Johnson has indicated that Londoners should brace themselves for capital-specific restrictions, in the hope of flattening the curve of the coronavirus outbreak.

Multiple sources have said measures including restricting travel and shutting all but essential shops and services in line with measures seen in other European capitals, could be brought in as early as this weekend.

I think that the Stock Markets should be closed.

The expectation is that London and New York will both be locked down before the end of this week.

Lockdowns happening across the USA and Europe. Don't see how mkts can sustain any upside whilst that is going on as their is no certainty of the future demand picture. As bankruptcies rise more and more debt becomes a problem. With no central bank writing off any debts for anyone, only offering more debt I don't see how the demand picture improves.

Age of Coronavirus Deaths

COVID-19 Fatality Rate by AGE:

*Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%). This probability differs depending on the age group. The percentages shown below do not have to add up to 100%, as they do NOT represent share of deaths by age group. Rather, it represents, for a person in a given age group, the risk of dying if infected with COVID-19.

AGE

DEATH RATE
confirmed cases DEATH RATE all cases

80+ years old 21.9% 14.8%

70-79 years old 8.0%

60-69 years old 3.6%

50-59 years old 1.3%

40-49 years old 0.4%

30-39 years old 0.2%

20-29 years old 0.2%

10-19 years old 0.2%

0-9 years old no fatalities

*Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%). The percentages do not have to add up to 100%, as they do NOT represent share of deaths by age group.

In general, relatively few cases are seen among children.
