To avoid US taxes, I think.

But for the purposes of disqualification, cancelling dual citizenship is not retrospective, The only issue is whether one had dual citizenship on the relevant date prior to the election.

Boris renounced his US citizenship in 2016, if you're referring to that.

All very divisive.

add

Australia recognises dual nationality for all its citizens barring those seeking election to its Parliament, which has forced 4 to resign.

If the same restriction applied in the UK, Boris would be disqualified.

Bit rich from the blustering fibber Johnson. The only clear vision he’s had is No.10 as residence..

“Tory Eurosceptics are expected to vent their frustration at Theresa May on Tuesday over the Government’s lack of clear vision for Britain’s future outside the EU.

Boris Johnson, the Foreign Secretary..”

Banks of Britain: Is it time to love them again?

David Buik Yahoo Finance UK 8 May 2018

RBS, after a decade is now back in profit. However, clarification over the US Department of Justice’s fines is needed for it to make contingency plans for its on-going business. The cost of the bail-out in 2008 together with a decade of losses has cost the taxpayer close to £100bn.

When did it become acceptable for Cabinet Ministers to publicly brief against the Prime Minister and/or Cabinet colleagues? What happened to the principle that those unwilling to accept collective Cabinet responsibility resign or be sacked?

'just asking'.

Rising oil prices proved to be a boon for equity markets, with the S&P 500 rising thanks to energy stocks. In Asia the picture was broadly positive, with financials also providing strong momentum in Australia and Japan. Oil prices have eased slightly overnight, as investors await developments on Iran.

It looks like a quieter session, with little in the way of data, but in the UK M&A will be on the agenda as Takeda looks to finalise its approach for Shire Pharmaceuticals..

William Hill reported a 3% growth in net revenue for the 17 weeks to 24 April, with a good performance online and in the US.

Virgin Money has confirmed that it received a preliminary proposal from CYBG to acquire the firm, with Virgin Money shareholders receiving 1.1297 new CYBG shares for each Virgin Money share.

Shire has reached an agreement with Takeda, regarding its takeover. Under the terms of the acquisition, each Shire shareholder will be entitled to receive $30.33 for each Shire share and either 0.839 new Takeda shares or 1.678 Takeda ADSs. The deal values Shire at £48.17 a share..
