The Dallas Fed's Richard Fisher covers familiar territory, questioning the efficacy of QE and noting the Fed could soon be buying 100% of MBS issuance. The section on fiscal policy - subtitled "Oy" - is most memorable for inclusion of a classic YouTube video about the ease of spending money when it's not coming out of your wallet.

Philadelphia Fed Chief Charles Plosser reiterates calls for a "nuanced" wind down of the Fed's balance sheet at a speech in Milan Thursday. While inflation may be tame for the time being, Plosser says an acceleration in the velocity of money could change the calculus quickly and leave monetary policy struggling to keep pace. Additionally, Plosser notes that although negative Treasury remittances (i.e. capital losses at the Fed) wouldn't likely impede the FOMC's ability to conduct monetary policy, they could indeed tip political sentiment in an undesirable direction just as the country tries to cut the budget deficit.

Precious metals continue to tumble, with gold at $1,374 nearing the panicky lows (about $1,350) seen during April's liquidation. Any excuse will do in a bear market, and filings released yesterday containing data anywhere from 6 weeks to 5 months old showed continuing sales of gold ETPs by names such as Soros and BlackRock. GLD -1.3%, SLV -1.3% premarket

LONDON--U.K. Business Secretary Vince Cable is set to criticize the euroskeptic wing of Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative party Thursday, saying no serious friend of the business community would advocate the break-up of Britain's relations with the European Union.

"The first quarter gain mainly reflects the psychological effects of improved expectations boosting domestic demand as households responded to the wealth-creating effects of a soaring stock market."

I see the MSM is talking its own book ... they'd claim they should get a
percentage of your wealth increase if they thought it was a runner ...
