Surprise in Malvinas: an ambitious oil company arrives in the South AtlanticChrysaor, from the global EIG fund, took over Premier Oil, the firm that controls Sea Lion, the archipelago's main hydrocarbon field.  Premier Oil, the main oil company that explores in the Malvinas, was bought by an ambitious company with independent private capital, Chrysaor, which promises to boost activity in the Argentine islands under British jurisdiction.Chrysaor's takeover of Premier Oil was the corollary of a frustrated renegotiation of Premier's debt, which amounted to more than $ 2.7 billion. This firm asked its creditors for a capital injection of US $ 530 million to acquire new assets, in a kind of kicking the ball forward. Chrysaor and the other creditors rejected the invitation and the lack of agreement resulted in something that had been denied until yesterday: that Chrysaor collected its credit and took over the rest of the liabilities that Premier Oil could no longer honor, absorbing it.Chrysaor's interest in Premier Oil revolves around its licenses to exploit oil and gas, especially in the North Sea, but also in other regions such as the Malvinas and the Gulf of Mexico.Chrysaor became the leading oil company in the North Sea in the last three years, after buying all the wells from Shell in 2017 and Conoco-Phillips last year. In that shopping raid he spent 5.7 billion dollars. But money is not a problem for Chrysaor, whose owner is a lesser-known firm: EIG Global Energy Partners, an investment fund specialized in energy that since 1982 has invested more than 34 billion dollars around the world. Chrysaor is supported by the financial backs of EIG, which are what have allowed it to grow in this spectacular way, which is what causes the delight of analysts.Endless holeSea Lion is the main oil reservoir so far discovered in the Malvinas. Located to the north of the islands, it was discovered in 2010 by Rockhopper, a company founded six years earlier to participate in illegal tenders for oil exploration licenses on the Argentine seabed by the Kelper government with British support. After two years of unsuccessful work at Sea Lion, an indebted Rockhopper sold the majority of the concession to Premier Oil, which convinced of the benefits of the field by Rockhopper's optimistic reports, believed it had done a great deal.Premier spent eight long years trying to extract oil from the Malvinas, but the moor geology, the drop in oil prices of 2013-2014 and the lack of financing made him lose interest in the area, despite the promising communications with those who de From time to time he reminded his investors (Premier Oil is listed on the London Stock Exchange) that he was still looking for hydrocarbons in the South Atlantic. In the meantime, the firm turned its gaze to the North Sea, where the main British and Norwegian oil fields are located, and to the Gulf of Mexico, super-exploited by US oil companies.Premier Oil borrowed more and more to buy new concessions in these areas. The logic behind these operations is to generate an accounting mirage based on a high equity that allows distributing dividends that are sustained only on the basis of indebtedness. Thus, a firm that was barely worth 300 million dollars assumed a debt almost 10 times higher. It was in that state that Chrysaor absorbed it.     Ambitious plansBehind Chrysaor are Randall Wade and Blair Thomas, the latter an energy adviser during George Bush Jr.'s presidency. Visible faces and main partners of EIG Global Energy Partners, aspire to transform Chrysaor into a global player.Chrysaor CEO Phil Kirk, who helped drive the company's expansion, will become chairman of the new firm that will emerge from the takeover of Premier Oil. According to the British financial daily Financial Times, Kirk's goal will be to use Premier Oil's assets in Asia and Latin America as the basis for further growth, now global in nature, allowing for more acquisitions in the future. "We are excited about Premier's assets in these regions," Cook told the FT.Behind this emphasis is the same logic that previously bankrupted Premier: paying "significant dividends" to investors, in Kirk's words. This policy could lead to a new push in oil exploration tasks in the Malvinas, something that is consistent with the overwhelming spirit of EIG and Chryasor. According to Premier Oil, there are 1.7 billion barrels in Sea Lion, a carrot big enough to attract EIG money.AlertThe Argentine government should be alert to these movements since national legislation penalizes companies that search for hydrocarbons in the Malvinas on the basis of licenses and concessions granted by the Kelper government. Under Argentine law, this practice is illegal.Premier Oil's financial difficulties had led it to approach the Israeli Navitas, with which it wanted to sign a financing agreement. But the collapse in the price of oil last March and its subsequent stabilization at around $ 40 a barrel turned those plans into a dead letter. In July Premier Oil announced that it was canceling a $ 200 million investment plan to develop Sea Lion. You can also read:  Malvinas: goodbye to the kelper oil dreamThis context is hitting many medium and small oil companies. One of them is Tullow, a medium with assets in Africa and on the Argentine coast, licenses it won in a tender carried out by the Camnbiemos administration in 2019. Now Tullow is looking for a capitalist partner and Chrysaor could be the contributor. If it happens, this firm would be operating on both sides of the British unilateral exclusion zone that surrounds the Malvinas, something clearly illegal.Tullow's presence in the Argentine Sea is already, in fact, illegal. In 2006 it acquired the Australian Hardman Resources, which among its assets had seven areas in the Malvinas (south and east of the archipelago) shared with Falkland Oil & Gas Limited (FOGL). Tullow explored these areas and after a year with no results, they were left to FOGL. In 2016, FOGL was acquired by Rockhopper, which in turn ceded Sea Lion to Premier Oil.Chrysaor is the name -in English- of a warrior with a golden sword, son of Medusa, the product of a rape suffered at the hands of Poseidon. Greek mythology was deep in its stories. Now his outbursts are approaching the Argentine coast at the hands of an ambitious oil company and a global investment fund.

I tried to start that debate with Nigoil but in his usual manner, all he is interested in is generating attention for himself and after decrying his desire for free speech, promptly put anyone who disagrees with him on ignore.

I agree it makes sense that Chrysaor would prioritise producing assets first. I do however also think that Navtitas may want to make sure the deal is signed for PMO.

Until the PMO reverse takeover is sorted then all things are possible.

Good morning to all my fans out there! It is blantantly obvious that Sealion will be going ahead! Without bringing new oil fields into production Chrysaor / Pmo will be 50% down on oil production by 2025. This merger once it's gone through will be a win win for everyone!.... hxxps://www.oilfieldtechnology.com/special-reports/20102020/westwood-global-energy-group-comments-on-premier-oil-reverse-takeover-by-chrysaor--part-two/.... What you got to ask yourself is will sealion go ahead. More likely not now rockhopper are completely broke. Nothings going to come if OM
PMO isn't going to exist
Navitas farm in will not go ahead given that PMO will be taken out on the cheap
Chrysaor will do what ever they want regardless of the rambling of resident nutcase

So what can we glean from ltw & surfit posts?.....1) Pmo creditors may stop the deal to go ahead between the three parties. 2) Navitas haven't or won't be able to acquire the funding 3) The Argie threat ( the ole chestnut ) 4) Is it Chryasors intent to continue with Navitas once the reverse takeover is complete 5 ) Timeframe...............All fear factors and an absolute load of codswallop! Just like when Pmo were supposedly going to be taken out by Apache or when Pmo were going to take out Rkh ! I suggest anyone who reads their rubbish to put them on filter, as they will seriously damage your wealth!.....Simples!.....;-)

I’m not feeling well but I actually saw some sense in Nigoil’s last post.

Navitas may well want to push forward on the basis if theY don’t get an agreement signed then once PMO takeover has been resolved they may not get the chance ?

Thoughts Nigoil ?
