27/1/2016 08:13 | World Energy Council Report: Energy Storage Has Solid Future January 26th, 2016 by Glenn Meyers Renewable energy storage endeavors appear to be highly attractive business models worldwide for the year 2016. A report from the World Energy Council states worldwide solar energy storage platforms will become more competitive as new battery technologies drive prices down. On the wind storage front, technical advances in areas such as composite materials appears to enable the power generated by wind turbines to increase. the cost of capturing and storing wind and solar energy coming down, energy storage deployment across the world will increase, finds the report. | dlg3

27/1/2016 01:00 | Evening doggie, you bought in here at 10p,bad move, this is going back to the placing price of 6.75p imo. Nice to see you posting on XTR again, will we be posting a lot together on threads? I do hope you get my drift, you never came across as slow in the past. See ya? | 12bn
26/1/2016 23:07 | Your input will no doubt be missed!!! IMHO there's nothing posted that isn't relevant to the renewable energy sector, there are of course other threads..... | dogrunner11

26/1/2016 22:32 | I am interested in the fact they say 4 units have now been placed, we know the one at Wokingham was first and Germany was shipped. Have Green Acorn got their one in Somerset? So is the 4th in Ireland or the other UK one at the warehousing and distribution centre in the South West? I would have thought the smaller units would have all been relatively easy to place, Thaba Eco Hotel and Gigha are bigger units and when one or both of these are placed and hooked up, then we will see all of the range placed. | troutisout
26/1/2016 22:22 | Ok, I'm out of here. Long term holder and have used this thread for ages but there is so much repeated info it's become unusable. I still believe in the company and will continue to hold. Good luck all. | raffa15
26/1/2016 22:11 | World Energy Council Report: Energy Storage Has Solid Future January 26th, 2016 by Glenn Meyers “There is a bright future for energy storage with significant innovation potential. With the cost of capturing and storing wind and solar energy coming down, its deployment across the world will increase. The market is right to be enthusiastic about storage of energy, not just because of the cost reductions that it brings, but also because of additional revenue and other benefits that specific technologies in specific contexts can deliver,” said Frei. The report issues five recommendations to policymakers: Go beyond just cost factors Examine storage through comprehensive case studies Work with operators and regulators to accelerate the development of flexible markets Establish policies and a regulatory framework which facilitate commercial deployment of storage technologies Consider storage as a key component for grid modernization hxxps://cleantechnic | spellbrook

26/1/2016 22:03 | 18/01/16 Cabo Verde, off northwest coast of Africa, will receive $8 million to build a 2 MW hybrid grid-connected solar PV and wind project, which will provide a 100% renewable energy solution for the Island of Brava, and help avoid 4,665 tonnes of CO2 per year. Finally, Senegal, in Africa, will receive $13 million to build a 2 MW solar PV mini-grid project which will supply electricity to rural villages and avoid 3,200 tonnes of CO2 per year. | dogrunner11
26/1/2016 21:52 | Shame about the other thread. I used to have email alerts set up for postings so you can imagine what that was like! My email became unmanageable so I had to cancel the alerts. A pity, it used to be worth reading until the posting diarrhea struck. | alanrussell
26/1/2016 21:34 | Utility-scale storage is expected to be big business in the coming decade. According to a forecast from Navigant Research, the market will exceed $2.5 billion in revenue by 2023. | dlg3
26/1/2016 21:28 | Energy Storage Set for Record Year in 2016 Renewable Energy World, 2016-01-19 08:10:35 With almost 3 GW of energy storage capacity either in operation or planned, analysis firm IHS believes the energy storage market will rise significantly in the near future. Battery cost reductions, government funding programs and utility tenders led to a 45 percent increase in the global energy storage pipeline in the fourth quarter of 2015 compared to the previous quarter. According to IHS, the global pipeline of planned battery and flywheel projects had reached 1.6 GW by the end of Q4 2015. “Suppliers and developers around the world are preparing for a record year in 2016, with significant growth projected in a wide range of regions and market segments,” said Marianne Boust, principal analyst for IHS Technology. 2016 Off to a Great Start for Projects | dlg3
26/1/2016 20:58 | Myth: The energy infrastructure is built for the modern era. Facts: While advances in efficiency have been made in the U.S. energy infrastructure, the coal-fired electricity model has been relatively unchanged since the early 1900's. If other industry models followed this same timeline: The most popular and advanced mode of personal transportation would be by horseback. Long distance communication would be transmitted by wire in a language called Morse Code. The preservation of foods would be done only through glass jars and tin cans. Modest beachwear for women would include full sleeved, floor length gowns and gloves | dlg3
26/1/2016 20:38 | redT (AIM: RED.L), the energy storage technology company, is pleased to announce that its first manufactured unit is approved for connection to the UK grid and that units will receive the CE mark, enabling EU wide distribution. The 40kWh unit delivered to redT's Wokingham development centre is now grid tied, charging from and discharging into the distribution network. Excess power from the panels and the redT system can be fed into the local electricity distribution network operated by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) so as to maximise sales revenues. SSE has approved connection of the solar and redT energy storage system to the local network. | dogrunner11

26/1/2016 20:35 | "These latest UK Government figures are a clear sign of how important renewables have become to our energy sector." Scotland has a 2015 target of generating the equivalent of 50% of its energy from green sources, ahead of the goal of producing 100% of electricity need from renewables by 2020. Mr Blamire warned: "While we are now almost half way to our 2020 goal of producing the equivalent of 100% of our electricity from renewables, the second half of the target is going to be much harder to achieve than the first." | dogrunner11
26/1/2016 20:30 | SSE are planning Scotland being 100% renewable by 2020 DLG, I posted something the other evening in this regard, they say they are on track to achieve this. Who did we get CE approval from??!!! | dogrunner11
26/1/2016 20:29 | Xcel Energy Inc. on Monday launched the first element of a sweeping new plan that executives say will upgrade the state’s power grid and give customers more choice in how they source and use energy. The plan, which Xcel is calling “Our Energy Future” involves dramatically boosting the amount of renewable energy — both wind and solar power — on Colorado’s electricity grid. t includes projects to test the role that big and small batteries might play in communities, businesses and homes. And it includes a major rollout of new, more advanced meters to help the utility and the customer better monitor and manage power supplies and consumption. --- Despite what some say on other threads, above is highly relevant as companies consider or take advantage of the advantages of green energy storage, a market place REDT is actively seeking take a large proportion of over the coming months/years. | dogrunner11
