20/1/2019 15:35 | 3268 VRFB over lithium - longer discharge, longer life, deeper discharge. It is laughable to compare lithium with pumped storage. Remember this? Lithium has a place alongside VRFB, i.e. peak shaving, frequency response, but if yoy are looking at alternatives to pumped hydro (without the geographical infrastructure) then you really have to go with the flow. | ts0mev
20/1/2019 14:50 | Link with cost comparison: Seems to me this is based on scale, so could very easily be different if there was a particular uptake in a different storage system. | bluechimp1
19/1/2019 15:21 | re 3264 haven't done the figures but if there was a massive uplift in the use of energy storage linked to wind farms then there perhaps wouldn't be a need to build many more wind turbines. The wind blows at night so that energy could go straight in to storage instead of paying wind farms to stop producing. These wind farms are being paid more for not producing than they get when they are producing. Its crazy. Its a win win if the turbines are used to full capacity day and night. The wind farm gets paid when it releases the electricity, probably at peak time and peak prices, and the National Grid doesn't have to pay them for not producing. I think I'll write to my MP. hxxps://www.ref.org. | mikemine
19/1/2019 11:26 | I can’t help feeling that all the building bricks are coming together for red there is so much news pointing in the right direction all red have to do is get the right mix for the mortar | chestnuts
18/1/2019 15:13 | gspanner 18 Jan '19 - 15:08 - 3262 of 3262 Not sure we know til it happens, but interesting that red may be a defensive share in that scenario. -------------------- Yes. But that's equally true in Germany as well, given the demise of nuclear and its substitution with brown coal, which has to stop. We just have to see the investment capital step in to execute the business model. | brucie5
18/1/2019 15:08 | Especially the idea that a hard Brixit will ...’could lead to a larger call for additional generation capacity or storage projects to come online immediately. With an average build time of six to seven months, storage projects will probably capture the lion’s share when co-location with solar and wind could quickly be accomplished and turned into a strong pull for energy storage flexibility. We would expect that additional mid to long term capacity contracts would be auctioned.’... Not sure we know til it happens, but interesting that red may be a defensive share in that scenario. | gspanner
18/1/2019 13:17 | Might be of interest. Cellcube view on Brexit and its implications to UK energy storage industry and BBC article briefly mentioning the importance of energy storage with nuclear seemingly taking a backward step. | bluechimp1
18/1/2019 12:58 | As for rise on Monday that was expected with the chart pattern like the rise today will happen | chestnuts
18/1/2019 12:54 | Spud I am expecting news on the German deal as in January, as stated in the new yr | chestnuts
18/1/2019 12:26 | Yes it implies it. We'll find out if it was meant. | alchemy
18/1/2019 12:10 | to stop hypothesizing, read Scott's last foreccast - the last RNS must have been just wishful thinking - no more:: "REDT said it no longer expects the financial close of its 40 megawatt hour project with the German power grid at the end of this year, instead guiding for an undetermined point in the new year | scrutable
18/1/2019 11:41 | Monday? If the flurry earlier in the week was a foreshock (term borrowed from seismology) | quanglewangle
18/1/2019 11:35 | In that case why not state 'we expect to conclude the funding process 'during 2019'? Scott has raised the expectation bar, either intentionally or not, by stating 'in the New Year'. To myself & I am sure many others, when used in this context, it implies the first month of the new year. spud | spud
18/1/2019 11:28 | As expressed formally it did allow the whole year. Imho, . I'd settle for first quarter. | alchemy
18/1/2019 11:20 | 9 more working days for Scott to close the finance deal if he's to keep to his adjusted adjusted pledge to close this in the New Year. And no, I don't hold with the 3 month 'New Year' view - You could just as easily state that the whole of 2019 is a New Year. spud | spud
18/1/2019 10:11 | Different topic. This is old and was announced around the time of monash, but I came across it a few days ago as I found something advising funding had been approved this month. I wasn't able to work out who is supplying the flow battery or whether they were building it themselves, though I leaned towards the latter. Anyone make more sense of it? | bluechimp1
18/1/2019 08:58 | Blue I don’t see why we would need a vanadium partner, I think it will just be a big finance company with plenty of money | chestnuts
18/1/2019 08:05 | 3249 I wouldn't be surprised if we do see some sort of tie up with someone like this or BMN, plus a global strategic partner. | bluechimp1
18/1/2019 07:35 | Probably ridiculous speculation on my part, but I wonder if this could be our strategic partner? The is no real hints as to a tie up, but it would make sense as Ironveld is looking for an off-take partner and the mine will be an open pit operation so an easy start. Yeah I know, I'll just get back in my box! | tradermel
18/1/2019 00:41 | hxxp://energystorage usa electro storage doubles in 2018 compared to 2017 | chestnuts
