06/1/2019 13:49 | Alchemy, 3154: Vir ut temporibus illis doctus ... I'll get my coat now. | quanglewangle
06/1/2019 13:15 | That is a letter to the MPs responsible for energy - the turbine people have no incentive to invest in storage (if the power co pays them to do nothing) and the power company cannot invest in storage as its not their job to create supply, so unless the government steps in and stops these payments nothing will happen. But if the payments for non-generation stop... then suddenly the turbine company is going to be buying storage as a matter of urgency. | gbjbaanb
06/1/2019 10:05 | Yes. But specific meaning could be meant and colloquial understanding expected.Ug! Lol, The Latins used Ut well. We'll find out guys. Seems even fracking not going to fly in U.K. so surely proper grown-up storage , I. E. Vanadium will get a go? | alchemy
06/1/2019 10:05 | Scottish power should be getting in touch with Redt pretty dam quick | chestnuts
05/1/2019 17:28 | Yep semantics, but if different words did not denote different concepts we would only need one word. After all, we managed with "ug" for millennia. | quanglewangle

05/1/2019 16:20 | Has anyone read into the changes in the German bidding process and understood it? If so, anyone willing to stick their neck on their line and give a view on what it likely means to the deal? Edit: I see from the article below it was a known back in July when the change was made and the feeling then was that the switch provided an incentive to longer duration storage such as flow: | bluechimp1
05/1/2019 14:45 | In normal usage "the new year" means early in the year. Otherwise "next year" would be used. | quanglewangle
05/1/2019 13:38 | It's during 2019 - A window wide enough to fly a 747 through! If it doesn't happen during the year then our investment is as dead as a Dodo. Let's just hope Scott can actually manage to close this deal for all our sakes!spud | spud
05/1/2019 13:29 | Financial close in the New Year" ......it's a colloquial phrase or better a phrase that can be read colloquially as early in the year but literally ........in 2019 - however taking in the context this Quarter? I like the11th inst much more. | alchemy
05/1/2019 11:32 | Well if we are guessing for the german contract to be announced i will go for the 11th of Jan | chestnuts
04/1/2019 16:42 | 3143 is that a date? I'm still saying 4th Feb. | ts0mev
04/1/2019 16:28 | 3136 - I'm not sure if you're talking about finance for red or finance for projects. If the latter I disagree. There are more and more funds looking at investing in renewables. In turbulent times flow energy storage should provide a relatively safe-haven for guaranteed long-term returns. I think the main hurdle in this regard now is convincing doubters as to the benefits of this technology (which has only very recently been perfected) over more established systems, though slowly, but surely, this seems to finally be happening. | bluechimp1
04/1/2019 16:10 | 3142 Read, read, read, analyze - 21st January. | quanglewangle
04/1/2019 15:06 | 3141 "Having announced an intention to reach financial close by 31st December, this has been revised and is now targeted to reach financial close in the New Year. This extension stems from recent modifications to the German market bidding mechanism for the Secondary Control Reserve service, which has required the project partners to undertake additional analysis to assess the impact of the modifications." | ts0mev
04/1/2019 14:50 | If it's that easy, why hasn't it been achieved already? And why are we in 2019 when a finance/partner resolution was stated for 2018? Just saying!spud | spud
04/1/2019 14:37 | #3136 - its easy, if the government will hand over £13m to a company to basically start itself up by buying a ferry or two, you'd think they could spare a few bob to kick-start the UKs energy storage industry and make it a world leader... think of the post-Brexit exports!!! I'd write to my MP, if he bothered to read them. | gbjbaanb
04/1/2019 14:17 | 3134 thanks for clarifying. That makes a lot of sense. | ts0mev
04/1/2019 14:16 | 3136 not sure why Scott is thinking anything less than global, so the reference to Brexit is a very small elephant. | ts0mev
04/1/2019 14:14 | Just googled how many companies announced strategic partnerships during December - I stopped at 9. If the product is right and the partner helped by investing into that company then it will be achieved. RedT have the product, the potential market and companies like Shell are desperate for their green credentials to be enhanced - not saying it will be Shell, just giving you an example | zero the hero
04/1/2019 14:04 | Warning! Elephant in the room!Is anyone on this board aware how difficult it is to raise finance in the current pre Brexit economic climate. I'm doubtful that Scott will be able to deliver finance but 'might' just 'might' be able to get a wealthy partner onboard, but at what cost....spud | spud
04/1/2019 13:09 | Yes, that's what I mean - rather than "buy" a system, customers will now "rent" one from the fund, spreading that capital outlay over 20 years. The customer wins - their budget is easy to manage, the fund and its investors win, gaining an extra 5% return from a long-term investment. Its the same principle they use for solar farms, places like BlueSolar buys their system using investor cash that they return a yearly dividend to. Once its established, the other infrastructure investment companies should start to get involved too. I can see companies like HICL or JLEN adding storage to their portfolio of projects. | gbjbaanb
04/1/2019 11:21 | I think what gbj might mean is that capital outlay will/could now (hopefully) come from funds, rather than the 'customer'? Edit: 'redT is working on fully financed, solar-plus storage offering to roll-out to C&I customers.... Currently in discussions with a number of high profile, global financing partners to employ infrastructure capital in this regard...' My understanding is they are looking to bundle these projects up for funds to invest in. On another note NTR's new fund is one to watch - I've not been able to find any details as to what type of energy storage is in their pipeline. | bluechimp1 |
