21/4/2010 12:54 | From todays news, I wonder if there is any parallel with Rank claims Bookmaker Ladbrokes said it expects to receive £80m from the UK tax authorities after reaching a settlement covering substantially all the outstanding items in the tax years through to December 2007 | betman

16/4/2010 20:28 | Good old Goldmans!!! Grizzly - I knew Iceland would have something up it's sleeve when it comes to compensating the Billions it's banks owes. This travelling is fun, because Iceland has gone off with a bang (wonder if Goldmans has had their sticky little hands in this tooo??!!), my flight tomorrow from St Petersburg is cancelled, even more fun - my Visa also expires tomorrow. | loganair

15/4/2010 11:11 | Logan ...we've talked about Goldman Sachs dealings before with Rank. Here's an interesting recent story (which has appeared in none of the financial press) regarding JP Morgan and the manipulation of the price of silver. Have a look if you have time. Interesting reading. Grizzly xx | grizzly bare
13/4/2010 13:57 | seems to be treading water at the 118 level, Just confirmed with RNK that the HMRC ruling will be heard later this month(no specific date given) but no telling when the court of appeal will give the result , so could still drag on for ages , !! | scrapman
12/4/2010 19:55 | Grizzly - Agreed, however there was no guarantee that there was going to be any Capital Gain (attractive return on their investment)in Rank, while the MGM notes give Genting a guaranteed 9% per year return. | loganair
12/4/2010 09:53 | Logan ...Genting bought back in Nov/Dec 2007 when the market price of Rank was about 100p I think. So no divi but a capital gain at the moment. Grizzly xx | grizzly bare
10/4/2010 18:23 | Genting are holding 11% of Rank for over 1 year without any dividend until now. 18th March 2010 - Genting Malaysia Bhd. has subscribed for $18 million of MGM Mirage Inc.'s (MGM) 9.0% senior secured notes due 2020. Malaysia's only casino operator said in an exchange filing that the notes were offered by MGM as part of a placement of $845 million. "The notes represent a good opportunity for the Genting Malaysia group to expand its investment portfolio and enhance returns on its existing cash balances," Genting said. "With a coupon rate of 9%, the investment generates an attractive return compared to what is currently attainable in the money markets or in other secured investments regionally, especially within the Genting Malaysia group's core leisure and hospitality industry," the company added. | loganair
09/4/2010 15:55 | Come on Rank we know you can break the £1.18-£1.20 level show us please. | mr gann

07/4/2010 17:53 | A quick look at my closing chart ... that magenta line is still calling. Or will we attack green line again! free stock charts from www.advfn.com Grizzly xx | grizzly bare
07/4/2010 17:45 | Mr. Gann - you've got to stop jumping the gun ...there is no chart breakout!!! You've said this many many times recently and it hasn't happened. Logan ..we've been on this thread from the very beginning and shared views many times, agreeing on most things. Whatever has gone on and is going on and has or has not been agreed by interested parties, we both know it has all been orchestrated by Goldman Sachs. My personal view of Guocco is as I have said before on many occassions, is that they will not bid more than initial premium of any more than 15% to the prevailing market price. They are in no rush and are clearly playing a slowly slowly game. Grizzly xx PS. There is always a risk that they could lose the tax appeal ....nothing is certain in this life. | grizzly bare
07/4/2010 09:34 | AT LONG LAST " CHART BREAK OUT" BREAKING OUT next target £1.40-£1.50 area. | mr gann
07/4/2010 07:48 | CHART-BREAKING OUT!!!! Breaking the £1.18 resistance level. | mr gann
06/4/2010 18:00 | Grizzly - IMO Guoco already have more then 51% in the bag: Guoco + Genting + What was BT/Hermes & the Pru = 62% of Rank shares. If they also have agreements with the likes of Aviva and Fil = over 75% of Rank Goldmans have a price Target of 140p. If a bid was to come IMO between 140p & 155p. My original bid guesstimate some over 18 months ago was between 150p & 180p. If Rank win the VAT and thereby reduce debt to under £100m reducing interest payments, under a Conservative Government the gambling tax is all the same at 15% and the number of high paying slot machines go back to there original numbers would equate to in the region of £15m to £20m extra profit for Rank. If Rank win all the VAT they've claimed for I'm still hoping for a one off small special dividend, say 5p per share for us long suffering share holders. They would still be able to reduce their debt to below £100m. | loganair
06/4/2010 17:51 | Hitting green line again but still no breakout Mr Gann. lv58 -My opinion of Guoco has always been that would be happy to pick up a controlling interest of 51% with a bid of no more than a 15% premium to the prevailing share price. free stock charts from www.advfn.c.om Grizzly xx | grizzly bare
06/4/2010 16:20 | Should there be a bid, what sort of price would be deemed realistic ? | lv58
06/4/2010 16:13 | CHART-BREAKING OUT!!!! Breaking the £1.18 resistance level. | mr gann
06/4/2010 16:07 | Griz , any more updates on your previous post , regarding HMRC , having to do something by April , 120p going ? | scrapman
02/4/2010 12:29 | Thanks Grizzly, hope others also find it quicker | mazarin |
