If the upgrade doesn't work the problems is usually that the Internet configuration is set from a script. The software cannot detect this type of install and will drop back to the original port.

Another problem can be that the connection on port 80 times out. Trying pressing F5 (if using IE) a couple of times after the "Connecting ..." message comes on.

no joy I'm afraid. I get slightly more than zz is getting, but still no IG Deal.

I'll call Daryl on Monday and see if we can fix.

On a "Technical" side are you interested in trying to get this fixed with a software patch as I believe that's the only way it will work or are your developers tied up with your Product Development Cycle?

I've tried that link, but I'm still getting the same problem - Charts works fine, Live Prices stops at "Loading market", Deal stops at "Connecting on 1 to Dealer Server" and News clears the window after loading, but doesn't display any news.

Any ideas? This is 1.1 build 43, after going through the upgrade link. I'm on the "safe" side of a corporate firewall, so I can't really discuss this with the firewall people. On the other hand, I have no problem running Java applets for Banking apps etc.

AM - Hmmmm ... strange that it won't drop down to port 80 as it refuses to connect. Thanks for time on this. Is it worth me pursuing this one-to-one with one of your senior engineers, bearing in mind that I can do nothing to change our firewall config.

Does anyone have any insight into when the spread betters are, or are not, running their own books on a stock?

Today I closed £25 a point (ie 2500 shares) on Innovation Group (a mid-250 stock) with each of Cantor and IG. I dealt with IG first and they did not seem to bother to do a matching trade in the market, perhaps because £25 is too small to bother? (But the official NMS on Innovation Group is only 2000 shares, and the largest size on the screen today is 2500 shares.)

However when I dealt with Cantor a couple of minutes later they definitely did a matching trade, they even waited for the fill before they would confirm my price.

This would seem to suggest that IG are running their own book on the stock but Cantor are not.

The helpdesk have told me that you would like to be on the beta program. We have added you to it, there are no immediate plans for any new versions at the moment.

Sorry I missed your other posting, I have seen most IG related postings but I can only join in when they are of a technical nature. As a director of what is now a listed company I obviously have to be very careful what I say on-line.

Spoke to them today and I believe someone was going to chat to you to confirm I'm on your beta program for proxy/firewall testing and future versions of the environment.

I actually tried to contact you a month or so ago with a thread on this BB but to no avail. I'm running version 1.1 Build 43 of IG Deal.

The latest version of the software works on port 80 if it can't get a connection to port 10000, it works a bit slower through port 80 which is why it prefers the 10000 one instead. Contact [e-mail] for download instructions or a CD for the latest version.

TN: Thanks for the explanation. More questions but now is not the time nor the place. We probably both have better things to do and it probably will never affect me anyway but at least I have a better understanding of what your talking about.

One would assume that people who have difficulties with fire walls should be working and not posting on this board. :- ))

Would someone please give me an example of the type of spreads that exist on IG or CityIndex.....for example...I was quoted 516/519 for BLM this morning by my broker.....if I wanted to deal with the spread firms....what would the spread likely be at those prices......

zzaxx99, you have to be a bit patient as I find it can take about 5 to 10 minutes sometime to load up.

However, if it doesn't load you could try going through their "having problem's" link as that sorted out a similar problem that I had in starting up the software.

What was the symptom of the IG software not working - I've just loaded it and Live Prices displays Loading market..., but that's as far as it gets. Live Dealing doesn't seem to do anything - there are menu blocks but they're greyed out. Are these the same symptoms others got?

Can't see the logic behind the client either. Couldn't they do via web forms like anyone else? This also forces you into M$oft whereas many of us are on Unix.

I can't get IG from work either (other than the sport site)
Anoys me a bit that they have to make these things so elaborate & not also have a normal version

On a separate note - latest IG Client still doesn't work through our Firewall. Shame, looks like we've closed too many ports for it too work through.
