09/2/2016 14:32 | I think I'll pass on topping up at this point. Clearly QFI have nothing good to report and the interims next month will be confirmation of that. Looks like Ian Williams is getting out at the right time. This will be single digits soon and will remain so barring some miraculous news. | tigerbright
09/2/2016 14:17 | Fresh wine in old bottles. Share price about to go BOOM under 10. Golden opportunity for those two (anyone knows both those geniuses from their foul language and stock market ignorance) self styled "investors" of this board to fill their boots ... while QFI tanks | tongosti

09/2/2016 10:55 | Looks like we are going sub 10p due to the lack of news. | hotfinance14
09/2/2016 10:27 | Sallad You know that it is not that clear cut. Maersk have hugely reduced their environmental footprint by the likes of slow steaming and altering the hull design and finishes of their ships. So greater fuel efficiency leads to smaller environmental footprint. Msar will help further improve efficiencies and further reduce environmental footprint. | argyll eagle
09/2/2016 01:20 | As 'late 2015' seems to have been missed (oops), d'you think we need to wait for the next 'off peak' period? Interims 2015..... 'This extended pilot limits timing to the 'off peak' period, being the only time when a large generator set may be taken off-line for the fuel change. Practically, this requires the pilot to be conducted during the winter period commencing late 2015 and concluding during 1H 2016. | kreature
08/2/2016 15:25 | David MSAR2 and scrubbers yes...but unless forced to do so Maersk as a global outfit will do nothing to "save the planet" because profits comes first, that is how capitalism works. Maersk are one of the biggest global polluters and therefore very vulnerable. LNG or MSAR2 with scrubbers, do they care? Nope. Bottom line is all. | sallad3
08/2/2016 14:23 | That why most of us have filtered him Weaver. | hotfinance14
08/2/2016 13:08 | such a lot to say kreature for someone so insignificant | weaverbird666
08/2/2016 13:02 | ^ That wouldn't solve the sulphur issue - The only main solutions re sulphur are MGO, ULSFO, LNG, experimental scrubber technology, or lots of rubber-bands. | kreature
08/2/2016 12:21 | Or to MSAR | david77
08/2/2016 11:58 | Did you know.... Scientists have shown that the 15 (yes that is fifteen) largest container ships cause more pollution than all the cars in the world. Perhaps Maersk could/should convert them all to LNG immediately. | sallad3
08/2/2016 11:56 | Getting very close to single figures. If it goes there and it holds for a couple of days or so ... BOOM ... floodgates will open | tongosti
08/2/2016 11:06 | If any readers really want to read an informed report on the future trends of marine fuels over the next 15 years they should download the detailed study by Lloyds Register, it's a bit more informed than Messrs Sallad and Kreature - lol: hxxp://www.lr.org/en | argyll eagle
08/2/2016 10:38 | No update on KSA because it's stalled in my opinion. They'll probably wait for the interims to announce that though. Then single figures I guess. | tigerbright
07/2/2016 23:14 | fabricate fabricate fabricate - All about fabrication at the moment imo. Surely they can't roll out to the rest of the world (in 2016) without a pipeline of fabrications? At least an update on the optional 2015 MMU for ksa might be helpful to shareholders imo. | kreature
07/2/2016 20:17 | Bit of sunday night reading for those dreaming of double digit p/e ratios. "Nonetheless, given the potential advantages of LNG as bunker and the pace of recent developments, the probability of LNG displacing crude oil as the preferred marine fuel is likely to increase. This article seeks to provide an overview ....." www.hellenicshipping "It is common ground that LNG has attractive advantages over crude oil in terms of its price, energy content (energy per unit mass) and environmental footprint" ".... natural gas has generally been cheaper than prevalent bunker fuels. This has not changed despite the oil price collapse that began in mid-2014. From a ship owner’s perspective, the lower price of LNG, compared to traditional oil-based bunker fuel, complemented with policy and regulatory measures that penalise the use of more pollutive bunker oil, has definitely made the switch to gas an increasingly compelling argument." | sallad3
07/2/2016 00:37 | Would cepsa have got involved with the lono trial if they didn't have a likely huge guaranteed customer at the end of it? - they have bunker outlets & contacts across the globe as does the huge maersk subsidiary whose name escapes me at the mo - is it likely that qfi won't be clearing an annual £20 mill, 30mill net profit or whatever in relatively shortish order after a successful test? - what pe could be applied in that scenario - 60 or 70 or more? - nothing assured in this investing lark but havnt heard of a better punt on the uk stock market than qfi - fingers crossed | pcjoe
06/2/2016 04:15 | 'ULSFO' hybrid future, & not so much LNG (IMO) 'That would put sales of ULSFO at about 55% of the volume of marine distillates sold in Rotterdam in 2015, with ULSFO and distillates combined making up about a quarter of total marine fuel sales in the port.' or maybe not 'Cleaner shipping The tripling of the increase in the sales of gas oil and diesel is at the expense of the sales of fuel oil, which fell from 9.8 to 8.7 million m3. The Port of Rotterdam Authority welcomes this development, since gas oil and diesel are significantly less polluting than fuel oil. The Port Authority is committed to cleaner shipping. It shows this by investing in Rotterdam as LNG hub and stimulating the transition from fuel oil to LNG (liquefied natural gas) as a fuel for shipping. The Port Authority expects that in 2017, the first sea-going vessel will be able to bunker LNG in Rotterdam from the water via a bunkering vessel.' | kreature

05/2/2016 10:18 | Looks like the next update will be at the interims in March 16. | hotfinance14
05/2/2016 10:05 | Not sure if lng going anywhere fast given very low hfo costs at mo - also given massive infrastructure costs - certainly likely to have a future at some point though - & yes looking very like 2025 is going to be the revised emissions implementation date - we will know for sure this year when revision completed - industry expecting 2025 though & that gives breathing space for new tech to take hold including msar | pcjoe
05/2/2016 00:08 | The real clowns posting on here are the ones who don't actually realise that two huge trials involving Maersk and KSA are being prepared. KSA's oil reserves are immense and they will be extracting oil and burning oil based fuels for many more decades, very likely including msar. I expect that the KSA project will lead the way to commercialising msar, followed next year by Maersk. I think the new sulphur regs will be postponed until 2025, this will give marine msar the opportunity for substantial rollout before scrubbers need to be considered. LNG as an open sea container ship fuel will have a minor role over the next 15 years as forecast by Lloyds. | argyll eagle |
