Chart looks horrible. I did think this would turn due to hand sanitizer sales.

Not scientific I realise, but boots online has sold out of some carex gel products, and an employee of a large major supermarket I know says the shelf gets emptied each day.

Pz have 36% of the UK hand wash mkt, though that percentage will not be the products that folk are buying (alcohol etc)

Key is whether pz can keep up with demand.

April 16 trading update.

I sincerely hope coronavirus is nipped in the bud very soon.

But it may be worth noting, that carex sales benefited during the sars outbreak.

My daughter reckons that with the drift away from plastics, soaps as we (my generation) knew them, like Imperial Leather will come back into fashion - and away from soap dispensers.

@deadly nightshade - It's good to get your opinion because it shows that there is a market for premium soap, even if I'm happy with Tesco's own brand. Although there are also lots of fancy brands of soap and shower gel made by Proctor and Gamble, Reckett Benckiser, L'oreal, Unilever - so I can't see one market leader in the soap, shower gel and air freshener sector.

@Contrarian Joe - I was thinking of buying last Wednesday but I thought the financials were too weak, and there is a hedge fund called Merian Global who are short the stock which made me worried(although I'd trust Nick Train over a hedge fund's analysis any day).

I can't agree there, cussons soap is 10 times better then some of the rubbish on the market plus I prefer Tesco own brand cornflakes compared to Kellogg's and probably quarter of the price

This stock is only being bought due to the Nick Train effect. I'll try and shadow him more often if this is the reaction.

I personally use own brand soaps because I don't see any quality difference as opposed to something like Kellogg's Cornflakes that actually tastes better than the own brands.
