I think this news is very significant. if you remember, the potential valuation level for AIA, then this could prove to be very positive for PRUs share price. i know someone whos met the ceo and said he was very impressive in investor meetings. i suspect he will charm some of the negative uk investors too this week. im glad i opened a relatively (for me) large cfd position (long) today. im hoping to see some retrace back towards 600p by the end of the week.. all imo dyor

im only trading short term on this one fortunately. i suspect thians week of reassuring uk investors will bode well. The markets seem to be more positive generally, and i suspect there are a fair few asian investors who will snap up any excess on the RI given the relative value of PRU shares compared to asian valuations.. at this point in time, i wouldnt be short of this stock thats for sure. i think this deal will grow in stature over the week all imo dyor

i think the hk listing and the currency hedge could prove to see another up day. plus i think the ceo is visiting investors in london?? alongside the swf investors news of friday, we could see 550p this week.. all imo dyor

Classic Buffet, but aren't Prudential giving too much away here, if they are going to pay for the acquisition at a 40% discount to the ex-rights price. Lets assume it's done at £3-4 or so; if Prudential received an offer at even £5 a share, then they would laugh and say it was a ridiculously low offer. To buy Prudential you would probably have to put more than £7 on the table. Why are they then prepared to issue over 100% of the share capital at half of this price to empire build? On that score, Prudential must now be highly exposed to a predator.

The Sunday Times says "a number of the Pru's large investors are furious with the deal," but generally has a very positive slant: http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/banking_and_finance/article7052497.ece
