Thank goodness we do'nt have to listen to all those doom & gloom merchants way back in July & august. Capital surpluses, how about paying some the loyal shareholders, by increasing dividends.

Eamonn Flanagan at Shore Capital issued a buy note on the insurer and said: Prudential ... has set a set of pretty ambitions targets for the group, over the next three years in terms of growth, profits and cash. We view these as challenging especially given the current economic climate but should demonstrate the virtue and scale of the group's operations in Asia. Of course, the question remains unanswered as to what the group aims to do with all this cash and, indeed, the capital surpluses which are already accruing within the business? Trading at a discount to our 2010F net asset value of 16% dropping to 23% for 2011 we view the shares as materially undervalued given the group's increasingly cash generative nature, the strength of its capital base and a positive sum-of-the-parts read-across for the group from the current rating of AIA [the business it tried to buy] in Hong Kong.

Asian Sales 32% up- UK sales 24% up - New Business 21% up US sales 33% up If all those loud mouths of a few months ago, especially the idiot talking about "tanks on the lawn" had encouraged, instead of criticsising, Pru would be in an even better position. Now for gods sake, let the Co go forward under the present directors.

AIG has just raised 18bn from floating AIA, why the hell did the Pru shareholders block the AIA buyout by the Pru ,surely it does look like a missed opportunity.

Waited almost a year to start making money again. At last there is significant movement upwards to enable buying low & selling out as I've done today at 654 have to be wary of going back in to soon though!

all insurance will suffer economic downturn. i am avoiding them not just from fraud, but from supposed natural disasters. look at russia today countries trying to avoid llyod underwriters and have nationalised insurance schemes. i would avoid investing in this company personally.

Comments in todays Times. One investor says "If they don't say anything publicly on Thurs,or brief afterwards in meetings, then the tanks go right back on the lawn" I bet McGrath & Thiam are shaking in their shoes. Some hopes - one investor!, what a laugh.Where are all these loud mouths, now?

thanks for that - yes, that fall back in March coupled with the one this week is the double bottom (I hope!) They actually hit 5.81 recently so it's a massive drop from there... If you're back in at 5.62, I hope that they will bounce back there quite quickly- I must admit to having 5.50 as my target area depending on what the DOW does from here - but that is getting near to the downward trend line too so fingers crossed... good luck too anyway... (it's a quiet thread so very nice to have a reply!)
