At long last I have understood what Tony means when he talks about "the Irish offshore" in his mid Atlantic drawl. Sure he's talking about his own offshore bank account in Malta!

People, it can go both ways. It is not nice to lose money, and the hindsight glasses work best. It was and remains to be a valid play, now that the oil cycle is coming back in favour.

Herm - thought it would be there somewhere. To be honest, I didn't read it I just assumed there would be one, as it is usually the case that there is.Ftj - welcome to Aim. Sell and sue for the loss, why don't you. I am quids down too, but I tend to take responsibility for my decisions. Had I not been taken seriously ill for half a year just as the op collapsed, I would have sold out. It's still my fault though, forgot to put a stop on ! Still, bloody good opportunity at this price and well worth averaging down in my opinion.

Riley, potential liability to transocean on their appeal was in a footnote to the accounts. not loads of punnters read these footnotes but they sometimes contain material info. The action against Transocean continues with PVR appealing again.

I admit that I was a bloody fool not to get out of this dog earlier Riley. However you may recall that the management did not give a very accurate portrayal of the risks involved. Tor stated categorically in a television interview that the Barryroe reservoir was not compartmentalized. When I asked the same question of Steve Boldy he was of the opinion that there were approx 8 main compartments. Secondly....on a number of occasions we were told that " a deal is weeks or a month away"...."we're down to the nuts and bolts of a deal"...."we're pushing them away"...bla bla bla. All a pile of wishful thinking which was presented as facts.

They spoke, nothing happened, price dropped, you held. Your fault. End of.Now as for the transoceanic non-disclosure, that may well be different, you'd need to read every presentation and every publication and all court docs to argue the case against PVR on that one. However, as regards holding with a falling share price - no-ones fault but yours.

Well you appear to think that it is irrelevant that we investors have been told time and time again that a farm out of Barry Roe was just around the corner. Rather misleading in my opinion.

Ftj - the only person responsible for your unrealised loss is you. You chose to invest with money you appear to need, you chose to ignore stop losses, you chose to ignore falling share price etc etc. By all means criticise the bod for their lack of success in closing a deal, but you can not pass responsibility on to them for your failure to cut your losses and thereby safeguard your money.

Emm. Didn't realize one was supposed to feel positive when you've been shafted for a significant amount of your pension pot. I suppose that makes me a curmudgeon. Well you live and learn!
