I think PAS could come out with a statement like this from FAN before long, the transfer market has been mashed.

RNS Number:2259H
First Artist Corporation PLC
07 February 2003

For immediate release 7 February 2003

FIRST ARTIST CORPORATION TRADING STATEMENT

First Artist Corporation plc (LSE: FAN), the leading global football management
and representation company, will announce its results for the six months ended
31 December 2002 in early March 2003. First Artist Corporation makes the
following comments about its first half performance, and trading during the
month of January 2003 - the first of the year's two football transfer windows.

Transfer windows relate to the FIFA imposed rules which generally restrict the
transfer of players between clubs to the month of January and May to August
across the UK and Europe.

As anticipated the first six-month's results of First Artist's football
management business have been adversely affected by these new regulatory
conditions. In view of these constraints, First Artist has been developing its
business in sectors/regions which are unaffected by these restrictions, however,
our results in January have been further impacted by the generally unfavourable
economic climate in the sector. As a result, profit before tax is expected to
be below market expectations for the year to 30 June 2003.

With this uncertainty in the market, whilst the board remains confident about
the level of business to be written during the next window (ending 31 August
2003), the visibility of earnings is less predictable. To help mitigate this,
the company has embarked on a restructuring of its cost base.

As indicated at the time of the release of the FY2002 results in October 2002,
the Board remains confident in the long-term viability of the football sector
and intends to position itself to take maximum advantage of this through
expansion of the core football business. In addition, a business
diversification strategy leveraging core skills into non-football related
sectors has already commenced and is ongoing.

I agree ards. A great med/long term play. Anyone investing in this sector needs to look at the bigger picture and as you say there is plenty of money being ploughed in to sports and particularly football outside of the UK.

As long as the likes of PAS can get a foothold in to these markets they are guaranteed to have profitable growth. Base Group (bs.) is another undervalued stock in this sector. Not quite the same calibre as PAS but never the less a company with good prospects and cheap! Worth a look but DYOR.

Howeller - I agree they are good value but I decided to buy a load of Base (BS.)instead. Another undervalued stock in this sector. Worth a look at the current price with some positive news flow starting to happen and several transfers . DYOR

I bought into Pas because I felt it was worth more than the current price. My husband is now very pleased that I have (even if i am not profiting yet) as he and the children are die hard everton supporters. Let's hope that the sentiment in sports management companies improves soon!
