09/4/2020 12:05 | "The United States has become the world’s largest producer but Trump’s administration has shown no appetite to mandate cuts." Unlike the Saudis and Putin, Trump is leader of a democratic country, and has no way to order the many independent oil companies to do anything. In fact the USA has laws against collusion to fix prices. So another false narrative in that report. | ![]() rose_by_another_name
09/4/2020 09:38 | UK... "A Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy survey published in early April showed that petrol consumption was down by 75% and diesel by 71%." from; I'd expect similar reductions in much of the developed world. | ![]() steve73

09/4/2020 07:50 | Russia suggesting they may cut by 15% or 1.6mill barrels. If US don't agree a cut in production then a deal would be less likely. If deal agreed then analysts suggest an ave $33 for 2020. | ![]() oapknob1
09/4/2020 07:42 | That's rubbish. Supply/ Demand will never re balance on it's own because the main culprits were the Americans and the loss making shale patch. Drive them to the wall with low prices and when prices recover they will reappear funded by uncle Sam. | ![]() jelenko
09/4/2020 06:16 | ctr - good post. ..432. laura ..438. A 10 MB/d cut will not be anywhere near enough to rebalance the market. There will still be a c. 10-15 Mb/d excess so prices CANNOT (IMO) recover. OPEC+ will simply be cutting their own revenues for no benefit. All these rumours & reports are causing wild swings in the markets that the traders (and insiders) are making (or losing) money on. Better to let the market push out the (non-state controlled) high cost producers until the supply-demand rebalances naturally. JMHO. | ![]() steve73
