'Retailer's underlying pre-tax profits see a steep fall partly due to the decline of the Loom Bands craze'

lol.. Inevitably in time these will be their self professed gold ticket
price. Pound a share..

Ultimately something like a WLW Mark viii.. 5p.. Except Lord AMS wont be
buying 5 million poundland shares to try and avoid the eventual inevitable
0p..

Gambler addicts mugs game complaining all the way down whilst racking up
compounded paper losses and over time actual cash loss. If the vital 6 weeks
Christmas is 'disappointing' which nearly ALL other retailers are starting
to see unfold and realise is going to be Reality. Then what share price following
early 2016 "trading update".. Sub 165p.. 2016 is NOT going to be a major
Boom year for bankrupt Britain with worse recession than 2008/9 inbound..

greater things are yet to come

Plenty got mugged off with the 280p placing of 18 million shares less than two months ago. PLND`s city credibility will take some rebuilding

FT summary:

Shares in Poundland have plunged 20.6 per cent this morning after the discount retailer's profits nearly halved in the first half amid "highly volatile" trading conditions.

Pre-tax profit fell 43.5 per cent and the company, which offers products from sauce pans to tooth brushes at low prices, warned its performance "depends more than ever" on Christmas.

The company has seen its shares fall more than 45 per cent since they peaked in February

Yes, the business has a lot going for it, you have to wonder why people are selling today, all will be at a loss as well !!

I think that one or two funds may buy in / increase their holding whilst this price opportunity lasts.

There were no concerns over the fixed price model in Feb / March when the share price was over £4, typical market moves, it was overvalued then and it is undervalued now. As someone who bought in recently at £2.735 I'm sitting on an ugly paper loss however my thoughts haven't changed much, I actually liked parts of the news today and this will now be a long term hold for me rather than a medium term one.

Disappointed but certainly not giving up with Poundland.

I have to say that as someone who used to go to poundland about once a fortnight I have now decreased my frequency to about once a month and when I do go into my closest one in London I an consistently annoyed by them being out of stock on certain items I have gone in specifically to get.
The supermarkets have taken the fight to this sector.

Fall seems ridiculous, overall I thought the results were as expected, the volatile trading comment is probably the killer though.

Mayhaps there'll be a small sell-off tomorrow and I can pick some up a bit cheaper if the results signal good news in the near future.
