Surely POLR is ready for the next leg up after the mini sell off on the markets this week? Lagging the trend up, won't last long imo...

Interesting to see he couldn't find fault and it is one of his picks for 24.

If POLR has genuine expertise in technology and healthcare then there will always be a place regardless of a sector generality such as you describe, donald. Perhaps.

In the US 95% of pension investment is into passive funds because trustees have been sued for underperforming the market. There is scope for some active management but it is a sector that looks to be in structural decline. Can Polr funds outperform trackers and thematic ETFs? There is a risk imo of thinking POLR looks cheap by comparison to history. But what if the future for active doesn't rhyme with the past?

POLR
In traditional fund manager space
Franchise in Technology and Healthcare
AUM rising to balance outflows.

Pretty sure AUM will be usefully higher than it was at end of year. PCT up 12%. Markets slow to react as usual.

Reports that funds in the UK starting to see good inflows now, albeit in US funds not UK funds. This should be good for POLR who are quite US biased. I think there is potential for AUM to increase quite sharply through combination of market movements and inflows. POLR is operationally geared due to largely fixed costs, so earnings could increase rapidly. POLR share price has been known to shoot up quite sharply before, so don't agree with the earlier poster on that point. The dividend will also be easily covered if AUM increases - admittedly this is dependent on market movements, but equity markets tend to increase over time so think it very unlikely AUM won't bounce back before too long.

Over a year Polar and IG have performed about the same. In the intermediate period they have varied a lot. IG are buying back loads of shares.
Anybody researched a comparison?

Over a period of a couple of quarters it could certainly go from the current price of 440p to 550p, that's a pretty significant jump imo, look at 2020/21...

Asset managers never 'suddenly rerate'.

Although performance fees are a valuable extra, the majority of analysts won't factor them into their estimates because of the lack of certainty.

The only way the sector begins to re-rate is if we see a sustained series of net inflows over several quarters.

As you know, the dividend is uncovered (by earnings) so there is only a limited amount of time it can be sustained at the current level. Management hopes that something will turn up (rising AUM and/or net inflows).

Same here will try and add a few when funds allow. Think it will rerate in a huge jump when it does so def worth remaining patient

Yes frustrating indeed - I have this as one of my top 5 holdings. But I'm staying invested as you never know how quickly it will re-rate once the time comes.
In the meantime just collect the bumper dividends ...

I wouldn't spend too much time trying to decipher it - share price movements seem to be completely random in the UK small cap space. This should be doing well as tech and global equity markets generally have been strong, so their AUM should also be higher. I added a few anyway.

I struggle to understand the share price movements of this company, quite bizarre at times. Now looks like heading lower with a head and shoulders on the chart...??

Yes their tech investment trust (PCT) is up about 8% YTD. Assuming similar gains in the other tech funds then AUM should be up nicely this year (assuming no further outflows). Gives a nicely geared exposure to the market too - every 1% AUM growth should give at least 2% earnings growth.

Serious rally in the tech names on good results and more AI hype.

All bodes well for the technology fund and trust. Healthcare funds also benefitting from the ozempic/wegovy drugs and others.

So two positive catalysts for AuM growth.
