Seems a lot of wasted time between venues, monte. I like to stay put and get stuck in.

#9048 A friend of mine (30 years ago or so) who had his business in Poole, Dorset, bought a Ferrari that had been given to Nigel Mansell from (I think Mansell's Garage).

Fantastic machine that was surrounded by admirers, every time he parked. Added to this, when he popped up the M3 to London, he was stopped several times in just one month, leading to a number of points on his licence, which he then lost.

After one month, or not much more of ownership...... he sold it. Not because of the lost licence but mainly the mental strain of worrying about it every time he parked!

Re Mr Brown, James:

As it happens, Mr Hitchens reposted this piece earlier:

'Shortly before the 2010 election, I harangued a supposedly ‘right-wing’ fringe meeting at the Tory conference, on this subject. The temperature of the room dropped by about 20 degrees Fahrenheit. I was received as if I was a traitor. Winning the election was all, I was told. We ‘had to get Gordon Brown out’. I couldn’t see why. Mr Brown was significantly more conservative than David Cameron in several ways. (This is not a difficult feat. Most cats are more conservative than David Cameron).'

A little rich, coming from him, surely?

David Cameron gave a grave warning to the former Tory MP: “In life, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.

I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting to read that the Speedy Stitcher® has been deployed upon the excellent Mrs jeffian suggesting that some new outdoor furniture is required.

I'd estimate 20,000 steps and around 3,000 calories a day, jeffian.

Not being a manic gayphone user, my 'steps' and 'kcal burn' are disappointingly low for the simple reason it is sitting on my desk at home while I am exercising and most of the rest of the time.

Barry, the olde coach solution might have hit a problem if I was on it - teh road towards Manchester is completely shut due to a burst water main. Likely to be so until early next week. What a carry on.
