It's amazing how easy the process for returning mail order items is these days. I had one item to go back to Amazon and one to go back to e-bay. I filled in the return requests and they sent me e-mails with those modern bar codes. At the Post Office they took pictures of the bar codes and did everything else including packing the items up. I actually had the Amazon refund in my account within a couple of hours.

Of all teh options, I would entertain a hybrid car (possibly plug in - but not DMOR) - that makes much more sense than some souped up milk float with range anxiety (and depreciation off a cliff....).

Would appreciate an update from Dom as to how much his car has shed of it's original value by now.

I don't believe it is gout, given I have had exactly this sort of injury now and again (even going back 10-15 years or so) - it feels like the toe next to the big one is slightly dislocated and there is some swelling - but I rest it / ice it occassionally, then when it starts to feel a bit better go for a good hike (thinking it will sort itself out if I push it), but that seems to have not been a good strategy, putting recovery back.

I think I might cause this injury from mowing teh back lawn in Stretchers sneakers (that allow a lot of lateral movement of teh foot) - there is a nasty curved slope that puts a lot of pressure on and I think that is teh original cause (of what may be an old injury).
