Results make for a pleasant read, the investor open day is on July 1st this year, so there's a date for the diary.

All good, reasonable numbers.

I think the company is in a bit of a holding pattern until the potential of Banzai sales is demonstrated with hard numbers and until new products emerge and are launched

A very good set of Interim Results. Very pleased to note the recent and "additional, unforecast volumes have been confirmed by Arysta LifeScience to increase in-market stock ahead of their upcoming campaign.", which I hope more than offsets reductions (somewhat expected) in the Middle East business. In any regard, my guess is that on an annual basis Banzai will more than replace the Middle East business and analysts might need to upgrade Banzai revenues accordingly, especially in light on the increased volumes.

The only part of PI's market strategy I am not quite so sure about, is the effort deployed on the Middle East (which might not be that much given the small percentage of sales), a region which appears to under-perform, or at least not meet expectations on a regular basis (for obvious reasons, which is hard to see an end to anytime soon). There might be better regions/countries to target e.g. India.

H&T...It's in addition, but there is probably some overlap/synergy with the previous work (see also the Alethea comment in link below). If you go to PI's website and hover over research, then hover over our focus areas, you will see there are three areas of focus in Wheat, to which mitigating heat stress has now been added -

so, is this their wheat product or in addition to the wheat product/s that we have been told about at presentations?

The new collaboration announced today is an impressive concentration of minds! The target of which is a very important one given that an average temperature increase of just one degree equates to harvest losses in wheat of some 10 percent in developing countries. This collective concentration of minds could unlock and indeed utilise the sophisticated mechanisms (metabolic processes) that already exist in the plant which responds to abiotic stress.

SP is back at 56p - what Brubaker paid early January. A nice coincidence with results next week. It seems that with the seller gone it doesn't take much to push the share price up.

I will be interested to see what impact exchange rates may have had on results.

Interesting, explains a lot. WH Ireland has just been fined £1.2 million. It has some financial difficulties which would explain this selling out.

PIM has updated its register on the website, there are a number of changes. Another ii has sold some. Two individuals have added.

Together with the total lack of news this explains the sideways action over the past 6 months or so

Interesting news this morning. In particular:

"His appointment and our establishment of a North American business reflects our confidence in the growth opportunities ahead for us in the US broad acre crop markets following positive 2015 product trial results for our soy and wheat research programmes"

This might suggest that Autumn wheat planting trial is already showing results in N.America.

PI's new website is impressive and worth visiting the various areas.

The photograph contained in the Alethea Technology section particularly caught my attention -

Lancaster University have been researching AletheaTM technology with us for several years. As part of this research they sprayed AletheaTM on dwarf bean plants before applying the active ingredient of paraquat (pq), a common herbicide. In this situation, the powerful herbicide instigates ROS production which results in cell death, although this can be greatly ameliorated with AletheaTM.

Both plants in this photograph were sprayed with the active ingredient of paraquat (same dose and timing). The plant on the right had been pre-sprayed 24 hours earlier with AletheaTM technology.

Perhaps a different picture in soybeans than the general Brazil news flow might otherwise imply -

Brazil's Soybean Yields = Record-Large Crop
Agriculture.com Staff
Updated: 02/08/2016

Producer Jorge Schuster, has 200 hectares (494,21 acres) planted to soybeans at the Capão Bonito farm in East Primavera (Mato Grosso) and is vice president of the city's farmers' union, which has 630 member producers. According to Schuster, producers are now more confident. “The crops that had pod fill in January are in good condition; there will be no lost harvest in the region,” he affirmed. On his farm, Schuster expects an improved harvest. He plans to begin harvesting on February 20 and estimates a yield of 65 bags per hectare (57,99 bushels per acre), far higher than the 55 bags (49,069 bushel per acre) per hectare of last season.

Certainly broken through support and established a down trend. Next support looks like about 44p, then 32-34p looks like it will provide a lot of support.

I think the company has made a mistake not giving a trading update at the end of January, they did this in previous years and it rallied investors

Interims were late March in 2015 and share price is heading back to what it was before those interims. Mid-March 2015 it was mid 40s. But in this market virtually nothing is unscathed it seems !

Well I guess there are also few buyers in this market. PIM's valuation is, it seems, quite aggressive and it might take another major announcement to stir interest.
