11/11/2024 15:20 | So now we are talking about down ticks. Oh man..great work work guys. | zicopele
11/11/2024 14:54 | Hi tournesol It's an interesting theory-and one I hadn't thought of. However, I think it's incorrect. If you look on threads where there is a "demented downticker". EG, here... ...if you look back over the past several prior pages EVERY post is downticked EXCEPT post 21282 by Neilyb675 which is NOT downticked. I don't think the webcrawlers will downtick everything EXCEPT Neilyb675 posts. And that's the only thing a blue poster CAN'T do, ie downtick their own posts!! In case you think that's a freak happenstance, you can go to this thread... Again, if you scroll back there's pages of downticked posts but on post 250, lo and behold, the bold Neilyb675 has NO downticks at all. The same happens on many threads, pretty much conclusively showing who's the culprit. Of course Neilyb675 regularly says something that is genuinely stupid or annoying, so he gets ACTUAL downticks, which makes it harder to spot on some threads/occasions, but on the whole I think it's easy to see they're the one doing the downticking. | theinquisitiveone
11/11/2024 14:40 | I've also thought it's a 'bot' tournesol. Hadn't figured why but you may have it correct. It's a weird world. | mcunliffe1
11/11/2024 14:04 | 6195 it is a value trap if it also goes down in price a similar percentage Look at what has happened since November 2020 here. 781p to 493p = 36.9% decrease in 4 years. Or an average of over 9% per year. Ok you have reinvested dividends to take account of but dividends were not 9% when it was at 8 quid share price either | spawny100
11/11/2024 10:44 | Agreed. I think the consistency of Neilyb675's downticking of EVERY post means that, ironically, it completely loses its value. People just think, oh, that moron Neilyb is just downticking everything in sight as per-so we can just mentally ignore the 1 downtick and equate it with being "0" downticks! It has definitely become null for me on any of his many downticked boards. Quite satisfying actually :-) | theinquisitiveone
11/11/2024 08:48 | Yep - if you downtick everyone then you downtick nobody | williamcooper104
11/11/2024 08:45 | In for a few more. | dosser50
11/11/2024 08:25 | Its not a value trap if it pays 9% dividend... | netcurtains
11/11/2024 08:22 | Got to smile when I visit this thread, at the pathetic person that pays a subscription to Red Tick every comment, what a sad life. | gbh2
10/11/2024 19:31 | Let's hope this not a value trap. | montyhedge
10/11/2024 15:31 | Tornado, why do you say challenging times? | alotto

10/11/2024 11:19 | alotto: I heard numerous adverts for Standard Life on LBC Radio. I seen numerous tweets for Standard Life on Twitter (X) I seen and heard adverts on ITV. Clearly (to me at any rate) Phoenix are pushing Standard life really hard at present. Historically this will pay good dividends. | netcurtains
10/11/2024 10:14 | 10,9% yield very impressive with 7 year capital compounded return. Challenging times, but this reward is extremely tempting | tornado12
09/11/2024 13:17 | Promoting standard life how? | alotto
09/11/2024 08:06 | Phoenix are currently spending a lot of money promoting Standard Life. This will generate growth. So growth AND big dividend. I rest my case. | netcurtains
09/11/2024 08:01 | Thanks - will take a look | watfordhornet
08/11/2024 17:32 | I look at America and the calibre of the President they have just elected and I am going to stick with investing in stocks paying decent dividends here in the UK. You can keep your growth stocks I have no interest but then I think I am living in the real world. We have the tools but unfortunately at the moment that is whom we have elected and we have to deal with it as best we can. I was hoping that this period immediately after the presidential election might have provided an opportunity but apart from Wood Group panic yesterday nothing showing up in the aftermath. We have got the 'FUNK' and it shows. Wider market bereft of ideas and sense. Plenty of blue funk there. Good weekend See you Monday | jubberjim
08/11/2024 17:14 | Shorting is accounting for only 1.81% Thats nothing to be concerned about. | cherryandwhite1
08/11/2024 16:24 | Can't wait for the DOW to pullback next week and the FTSE crash to 7500..... | dope007
08/11/2024 15:46 | What's the point in holding high divi stocks outside tax wrapper.Better to go for growth stocks and be subject to 24% CGT rather than 39% divi tax. Does not make sense that they are not aligned - profits paid out rather than kept within but gain is same but tax is differentAm I missing something? | watfordhornet |
