Is it 6 months before an updates that the board can't buy shares? Is this a rule only in the annual updates as oppose to the interim?

Pets at home recently appointed CFO Mike Iddon has bought quite a few shares. See RNS. Interesting. If anyone knows the financial position of PETS, he should! This might be a good point at which to buy PETS following his lead. The stock is not quite technically oversold just yet, but not far off it. Dividend looks tempting now. I'm tempted to increase my holding still further.

Cat scandal and warning is good if it drives it into that buyzone - if it goes in there & turns (& pref announces some mgmt improvement plan etc) - it may well do a technical repair upto the gap - obv the news will have to support - traders will be watching that baseline for signs of divergence

Pets at Home recalls food after cats 'collapse

They seem to have acted swiftly and responsibly BUT according to BBC symptoms do not seem to be typical of thiamine deficiency. "Cats would usually present with quite different symptoms, including stiff limbs and the head falling onto the sternum."

Could there be something else in the food causing the symptoms ? Or could it be something else these 3 cats have eaten.

AT least Pets at Home seem to have acted swiftly and hopefully their supplier will pickup all the costs but will some and if so how many cat owners switch supplier?

In my opinion the share price has taken that much of a hit purely due to big short positions. I think the update wasn't quite as good as they hoped so a huge opportunity to short and scare to sell. It kept moving, slowly lower as more and more short positions were taken up. I'd agree that the chat does seem to have bottomed, but as if yet I'm more interested to watch what the big shorts do, if they reduce their positions I'll take this as confirmation, nothing else. I'm watching NCC and CLLN both have big shorts on them (CLLN 24%!!), so just watching how these games are played with them and PETS, and try build up a picture as to when they are happy with covering their positions, as I imagine once they do, they do it fast, the share price might be like a catapult.

PETS board room conversation "so all we need do is buy some shares, it'll flag up to all investors and traders and they buy right in, genius I know"... "so how many do I need to buy?""Ah, I dunno, say 10 grands worth??"Yep.

It would seem that it wants to test the all time low at about 168.
Personally I would turn buyer at that point.
