Well be that as it may, the dead cat rally is over and appears the stock is repeating the usual late morning to mkt close slump |
There are traders who go short and long at the same time.
HOW?? and WHY??
Because, for example, they regard it as a good longterm play - so instead of repeatedly selling the falls and buying back in (incurring fees each time) or because they don't want to miss dividends, will maintain their shareholding, but will take out a short-term downbet to capture gains from each of the falls. If the stock doesn't recover, the downbet win compensates for the shareholding loss. If it does begin to recover they will cash in the downbet.
I have done this on numerous stocks; using downbets as a hedge against shareholding falls. |
PETS is quality and will turn eventually. But why fight against a tide when you can join it and profit from it? Even one of the biggest holders is short |
Saw a spoilt cat in a coat the other day.Is this the next must have for posh moggies? |
You are a shorter, so being boring. You might be right and us peeps long, wrong but stop the boring nonsense |
Didnt last long lol |
Are my eyes deceiving me? Its gone blue!? |
Looks like we can expect a further 3% + fall today. UK mkt really becoming bargepole, soon the only investors in UK mkts will be those trading in short etfs lol |
Fallen 30% in less than 6 weeks. |
Below 112p would take PETS below that proud £-billion status. |
Goldgeezer - good one! Scepti - get those ears seen to ;-) |
Ps doubt this current dip has anything to do with the CMA investigation - its more post ex divi shenanigans imo |
The battle between longs and shorts intensifyingAm still short but looks like it is close to turningReckon we will see the low 2s today |
grabster, please post if consider the bearish move is concluded, or may be near.
Stuck this on a watchlist, investigation in to vetinary drugs pricing is very clearly weighing, coupled with UK consumers under pressure on the retail side. |
I believe it depends on the breed. |
What does cat taste like? Asking for a friend. Anything like rabbit? |
Lol touche |
More cats needed then. A very bullish signal if we all get a taste for pets. Pet sales and food will rocket. |
I reckon it will get to about 212 or so today and possibly hit 200p by Thurs / Friday. There is no reason for a rally, the business said it themselves, the UK mkt is dire - huge tax increases, no money in ppls pockets. Lets be honest, with this government, the plebs will soon be eating their cats, not feeding them!!! |
Been looking at PETS carefully for a while, and just bought in here today as it’s now looking excellent value based on both company & industry fundamentals, expecting a very nice positive rally north here going forward, please DYOR. |
FWIW i dont dispute the quality of PETS.Its just the UK mkt that is uninvestible. All of my long investments are USNo stamp duty, taxes etc. only downside is the fx but you can buy adrs |
Its probably time for the Nasdaq to acquire the entire LSE LOLUK mkt is bargepole |
Market cap dropping below the psychologically important 1 billion this week if this slide continues. Such a comedown! |
