In my opinion, Glencore are the masters of frustrating the regulatory authorities: They are under investigation in the U.S., U.K. and Switzerland, amongst others. During this period, the Old Guard have all slipped away or about to. For the tens of millions this costs in lawyers fees, they are probably saving hundreds of millions.I think you are right...

plunger.. The best bit of that report is this bit...............
Why would any company with deep pockets bother to cooperate with any SFO investigation from now on? Companies already have to jump through hoops to even be considered for a deferred prosecution agreement, which entails turning over all their evidence so the SFO can go after individuals. If this judgment has taught large companies anything, it is to dig in and fight.”

If the crime was committed in UAE why are British authorities involved? (rhetorical question)

Pure speculation; with Unaoil being a Monaco registered business, Lufkin could have suggested the evidence against him was illegally gained. If jail time was on the agenda, worth a punt.

Quite funny how the conviction was plastered everywhere and sentencing would of been all over the papers the same, not a word to be found as to why sentencing has been delayed , adds up to one thing to me, the SFO case is a non starter, evidence is all null and void due to the Supreme Court ruling.

Many of these boutique hedge funds maint short positions in "event driven" stocks like this so they can say to their clients that they are actively looking to profit from such situations. The higher fees for Long /Short funds means that investors in these funds expect the managers to short companies that have potential regulatory risks. If the stock drops due to such regulatory events the hedge fund can boast about its laser focus skills. If the stock surges the hedge fund will cover and not refer to it in any presentactions. This possibly explains why some funds chose to maintain short positions even when the valuation becomes very low and te risk/reward seems to be unattractive

apologies, I confused Cape View with Rye Bay. Both Waspy, White Supremacist names. So we have not had any significant drop in the short position by all parties, yet the share price is 20% off the low

PFC's share price has held up well this week, despite Cape View Capital increasing their short to 0.77%. Good volumes too, mostly in favour of buys!

I have to say though the adjournment of the sentencing of Lufkin... and complete lack of any explanation (as far as I can see) is mystifying! It'll all come out in the wash, I guess.

I was hoping for a bigger dip today, to buy some more... but I missed it. let's see where we are next week! GLA 👍 (No, not you shorters!! 🙄😁)

There is the Petrofac chart for January, as you can see, fantasy boy must have bought on the drop around 14th-15th january if it was £1.30 and the price never went above that to be shortable at any price he mentioned.
