Yeah, I think my theory might be accurate in that case. Guess we will find out in the next few days when the short list continues to be updated.
That sort of cost must increase the chance of a short squeeze, but I am still staying away, because I have no idea what types of range this might trade in until the D4E specifics are confirmed!

lovewinshatelosses,

"Assuming the borrow costs are still highly elevated, this could be the shorts taking profits, with the high liquidity today allowing them to do so without spiking the share price
Does that sound feasible, jaknife?"

The borrow cost is bonkers, it was over 400% when I double checked a week or so ago. It destroys the economics from the short side.

I am on the sidelines with this one, but watching the action with interest. It is quite fascinating though, although I have no idea how to trade it, so steering well clear myslef.

I'm amazed that the share price hasn't dropped further. I still have 4p pencilled in for the placing price and the price at which the D4E will be done.

It seems pretty irrelevant what the rights issue shares are priced at, this current share price has for a long time known a DforE was happening but the good news is that current small shareholders will have the opportunity to take part. Once that sorted I don’t see any reason given the contracts available to them that the PFC share price shouldn’t very quickly recover.

How is this still at 19p when they have said most of the debt will be converted to equity? That is surely only going to happen in low single figures, perhaps 2-10p?

The share price has already been decimated on the assumption of huge dilution or potential insolvency.

Shareholders will have the opportunity to participate in the rights issue and benefit from the company turnaround.

Not as bad as it could have been.

Well D4E will be big problem for shareholders!! Current price is 19p , that placing price will be massively discounted, hence current shareholders will be loosing out. Then interest in new bonds and payments will be push out shareholders with no return on equity as well

Bondholders are going to want their pound of flesh so the swap price could prove quite damaging to current equity holders but at least the company is still owned by the shareholders rather than its creditors and that for a company of Petrofac's quality is a blessing

Debt is a cancer for listed companies.

We cannot speculate on price as it is not released yet. After restructuring we will be better moving forward - average 16p happy to by more 2p or 10p… long term hold massive opportunity here

Owan28,

"Market priced already for dilution. Expect rise if results are good - plus a margin call as shorts buy back as won’t want to be part of RI."

What price are you forecasting that the new equity will be issued at?
