If Carlsberg did 'perfect platforms to announce deals' at, then:

- Block 6 or Merjan at the October conference, as an example to major IOC's of an upstream deal being awarded under a newly revised oil law

- a mega deal with Netoil/Petrel on an asset in Kurdistan (PSA in Salah Aldeen licence area).

There's actually 2 separate online conferences coming up. The main Iraq Petroleum one in October and the Kurdistan one in November:

I think KD mentioned something about an event of some sorts in Baghdad in October. They just might announce our deal then.

From the interims

"Petrel is well funded for ongoing activities."

CASH AND CASH EQUIVALENT AT THE (end?)OF THE PERIOD 409k

CASH USED IN OPERATIONS (230)k

So they believe they are well funded and despite there being only 2k for exploration activities in the 6 months they still burned through 230k on operations !!

So that means they currently have less than 1 year at that run rate !

How does that translate into well funded ?

Surely solvency - were this an audited set of accounts would need explaining once the visibility of funding is LESS than 1 year.

That is without actually doing ANYTHING

Seems to me the coded message to all gamblers is - they are NOT planning on doing anything therefore the cash will last just to pay the admin expenses and even that has little visibility to achieve even 1 year...........

Had to pop in see why the drop. As for 'Petrel will play a part in this', he's basically just saying Petrel will exist. If they weren't playing at least a part, it's terminal(!)

Would be good if Petrel can pull anything out of the bag, but track record is against it. I'm still in, still waiting for an out..

I agree with KD. It is all about understanding the "coded message"

The following statement:

"There are no material post balance sheets events affecting the Group"
+
The lack of recent communication
+
Re-sending Baghdad high officials the old slide pack
=
Multiple Blockbuster Production Share Agreements

It is the only logical conclusion. Everything else is just the work of negative people who don't understand the 20+ year slow and steady approach. Even if it takes another 20 years I am ok with this as I prefer plastic straws for my milkshakes.

Now we should be patient though.... travel and pens are restricted (apart from those already traveling and have been hording all the pens)

This is the bit i liked! their were no 'ifs' or 'buts' or 'maybe' It was a dead cert 'will'

Our daily lives are improved by a multitude of hydrocarbon based products. Renewables are growing and will continue to grow, but for the coming decades, oil and gas will be the dominant source of energy. This will require new discoveries, PETREL WILL PLAY A PART IN THIS.

Covid restrictions may slow it down but not stop it altogether. If you can rock up at a pub and sign a track and trace form then why not a contract ?

The biggest unknown for me is whether contracts would need to be signed in person or whether new online signature technology could be used. With Covid restrictions enduring in Iraq, let's hope the latter.

If anything, I take the lack of any detail (plus recent vacuum of email detail from DH) as a positive that we are simply in a hold position awaiting the right factors to be put in place to announce deals. These factors are probably the top level jobs shuffle and INOC talks that are happening now (which will define the new, more attractive, type of upstream contracts).
