This is what I have just written on the ALK BB without having seen the Times article...
This (the MOU)is a clear positive. However, before we all start to break out the champagne I would highlight that Recharge / Scale Facilitations still have to raise billions of $ to get the old BV project off the ground, while at the same time trying to get their similarly ambitious Australian project off the ground. Projects of a scale that they have no obvious experience of doing. Reading the CEO's biog (hxxps://www.scalefacilitation.com/ceo) makes me somewhat nervous too!

ALK, yes seems they have signed an MOU with Recharge and also (some two weeks ago) :

"ALK....has received first phase approval from the UK Government's £1 billion Automotive Transformation Fund ("ATF") which seeks to support the national transition to Electric Vehicles.

ALK seem to be the feature, not PRE.

I wonder if the Gov. have agreed (at least in principle) to stand behind the £100m assuming, of course, that the New BV jumps through all the hoops that were attached to the original loan.

BritishVolt - good news for our sector - battery storage is required for electric motors using our rare earth magnets and it keeps it relatively local

Also being north of Watford the reaction of those needing jobs will be obvious to even the dummos in government 'considering' the Pensana development

Chart looking better first time from a spike we have not continued the down trend so a retest of the recent high and a clos above would be a great signal. (of course finance news is what we all await but in the absence of news we have TA)

I don't think anyone would argue that this is not a speculative investment, but that does not mean that, by definition, a substantial investor has not done DD. I am sure M&G will have done DD.

No professional who performed DD on this firm would invest. This is a purely speculative punt with zero chance of success or funding.
More red flags than a Chinese communists parade.

I'm sorry, but to say that M&G did not do their due diligence in both their funding rounds (£10m in Dec 21 and $4m in Dec 22) is ludicrous. They would not have invested without some detailed conversations with management and their own analysis of the company and its underlying fundamentals. I would have expected their DD to be even more extensive prior to the current funding round, given the clear challenges PRE seems to be facing around getting financing (or at least financing at the right price). Of course whether the conclusions of their DD (i.e. to invest) were correct, only time will tell. Investing in start-up projects requiring material amounts of capital is a tricky business.

You could be right, Murphy's Law at work for PRE shareholders. Did not know M&G had done no DD on their original investment, if that is the case, sounds pretty shoddy.

M&G did not do DD with their original investment. Maybe they have now, hence the failure to fund.
