Don't blame female CEO. It wasn't on her watch that they made the decision to sell Viridor for no reason & when they had no idea what to do with the proceeds... I felt it was a bad decision, clearly others did too & think they've lost their way, so have re-invested elsewhere

Maybe, although if you look back on the year, not sure there was a massive move into defensives... NG, SVT and UU don't have big moves up after the pandemic hit Times says Pennon and other utilities went down end of last week as Uk 10 year gilts went up, ... makes sense, but don't think they'll be going up much further ...

I think the price is falling because II are moving from defensive stocks to recovery stocks.

Hi Jack, luck with that. RCP has been the star for me this week.

Bought back in to Unilever yesterday too soon, 40.95 my current average,
although very fortunate as had a large position in ULVR just a few weeks ago,
bought back a small amount only. Added to AZN, but nervous on the FY reaction next week.
Also bought back in to GSK at 12.86. Two trades closed, CLI and
a day trade in Hiscox bought at today's open.

Might have a nibble here on Monday. Good weekend. Cyclicals starting to look pricy in many cases,
at least to my eyes, but momentum is a powerful force as we know.

Hi EI. Sorry, Just noticed your 1139 (presumably your 1142 refers to Dartboard’s
comments !).

It was a decision based on charts and probability with the intention of giving my core income a boost. So far not a good decision. I’m certainly not adding at this price but will hold for the income and because as time goes on I suspect the chances of the cash being wasted on a major acquisition diminish and the chances of some return to shareholders improves.

It’s been a good week for my aim of boosting my core income portfolio as I’ve added N.Grid and Unilever in the last couple of days. Admittedly have a bit more conviction in those than in Pennon.Watching GSK ( fall looks overdone and RSI just 30) and AZN too but I’ll wait for AZN results before deciding.

I did not expect to see these down to 913.

Maybe one day PNN management will tell us what's going on. Maybe.

Dart, would agree with that. A share consolidation is the way to go
for the majority of the proceeds.

Private equity are awash with cash currently, Would be highly
surprised if PNN can find a fairly priced large acquisition.

Jack, appreciate the view, thanks.

It would have been helpful if the previous CEO had a clear plan
on deployment of capital, something that could have been executed around
same time - Covid-19 delays allowing.

PNN have already effectively sacrificed 6 months worth of Virdor earnings and counting.

I strongly favoured a minority stake flotation, allowing easy access to
capital to expand Virdor growth.

Understand everyone here thinks they are going to blow it on an overpriced acquisition or burn it on working capital... I think that would be career suicide... and they need to return some and do a nice (lower risk) bolt on ...

EI ... I'll take the other side and say I find the buy side hard not to see. Understand the argument that sitting on cash is not ideal, and people here think selling Viridor was a bad idea. Regardless of what you think of the deal, they now have a hoard of cash and a very cheap underlying PE (net of £2.7bn cash) compared to peers. SVT 11, UU 8, PNN 5. It's not a bargain, but it's pretty good... In an uncertain future... it adds stability to the portfolio

Jack, find the buy case difficult to see outside a possible bid situation,

are you seeing something in particular of interest here?. Thanks.

At a fairly critical juncture here I think. Been watching for opportunity to buy some in low 930’s and got it today. However not a big position to begin with and with a tight stop loss as if drops below 920 there is a big gap and I wouldn’t want to be holding.

I find it difficult to believe that the large institutional investors are in the dark about what is happening re. another water company takeover or cash return. They simply would not put up with it.

To get a level playing field ordinary investors should be given an indication now about what Pennon's intentions are and how matters are progressing.
