The Pennon strategy is to continue with the capital investments on new EFW plants and recycling as they are hedged with long term contracts, their last presentation to the City detailed these.
There is a huge programme in plastic pellet production in the USA including Shells new mega plant their, but it is to utilise raw ethane and hence new resources. Viridor is building a new plant in Avonmouth that produces graded pellets from recycled materials, the first in the UK.
The expansion plans and income streams exceed the regulated water side threats of any nationalisation.

What are the longer term prospects for their energy from waste plants
with the UK outside the EU?. Possible changes in the legislative backdrop etc...

Any thoughts on this as Pennon has committed huge capital to this area.

Yes, yield is a very decent 5.27% and they have a good record of consistent dividend growth, covered by earnings.

Seems to be just threat of Corbyn government that has been holding this back. Maybe if Tories and Brexit Party can get their act together so that anti-Corbyn vote isn't split, then that threat recedes. If clean Brexit is finally delivered in October, there would seem little need for Brexit Party after then anyway, whatever they say otherwise. When it's seen that there's not the Armageddon predicted by Remainers, Boris's popularity should then continue to keep Corbyn out. But a few hurdles to get over first!

Meanwhile, next Pennon results due November (interims).

Strong couple of rises, and about time too.
Surprising, the lack of posts considering the size of this company.

Not sure what to believe here. While I can see the Tories messing things up so much that they lose a general election, the country is so fragmented I cannot see Corbyn with an outright majority. Most likely a coalition of some sort unable to carry out radical agenda. But then again...

Might be a good day for utilities tomorrow with Labour under JC getting a kicking.

No surprise that Pennon's rising today - 7 Labour MPs quitting and another considering his position, and that's 3 or 4 more than Laura Kuensberg was expecting. Some of them might have been deselected, anyway, so I doubt that this will change much overall, other than that the labour vote in their constituencies will be split.

Can't say that I'm impressed by their wish to have another referendum - doesn't say much for their alleged democratic credentials.

Still, what does it say about a future (perish the thought) Corbyn government? Probably reduces the chances, and thereby the chances of renationalising water and stuff. Think I'll add some.

I doubt very much that even John McDonnell has any idea as to how it would work, and cares about the detail even less.

Could someone walk me through how a potential nationalization would work? Would the government buy out all the shares from utility companies, if so at what price?

Whenever I buy a stock, they always go down, when I bail out they go up. Weird! I'll give it a bit longer.

This goes inexorably down. I can see it going under 700p in this torrid political climate. All sense seems to have left the markets except fear. Corbyn can do his worst; but where's the money to come from? Its great to demonstrate on the streets ala Momentum etc. for all the noble causes in the world, but when people are hit hard in the pocket then we see a very different situation. How would Corbyn & MacDonnell cope with a UK equivalent of les Yellowjackets? who have forced Macron to change course and reverse his tax rises. The only people campaigning for higher taxs on fuel and energy here are those who don't drive and live at home where mum & dad pay for everything!

The company looks in good shap; the political side seems unreadable at present, so we may bounce around a bit.

Yes, my hammer bottom turned out to be good.
We currently have an indecision candle today, so we need to break past 780 first and then 810.
looks like it may consolidate between the two first.

Human nature means people complain when things going wrong but contentedly sit back if all is fine. Also this is an old thread only recently resurrected in Sept, may not be marked on user's favourites list, so recent posts might be missed?

Yes, good figures and growing dividend, just need the spectre of Corbyn government to recede and then all boxes here would be ticked.

No comments on the results then? They look pretty good to me - happy with that. Steady improvements and an increased dividend.
