Difficult to fathom Hedin’s position. Wouldn’t support Lithia’s bid and make a decent profit on their investment. Wouldn’t follow through with their own bid. So sitting with a substantial investment which pays them nothing. They hate the current management. And they still control the game. Something will happen eventually and meanwhile the company is trading well and looks v cheap

It was about this time last year that the alleged Lithia bid of 29p was effectively blocked by the large shareholders.

SMMT have announced the total for the month of June of new cars registered in the UK as 177,266. 25.8% up on June last year total of 140,958.
6 months YTD 949,720, vs 801,679 last year.

So put simply, Hedin don't own approx 1 billion shares. They'd need £250 million for a 25p bid, £320 million for 32p etc.

Car Dealer Magazine article today commenting on Non_Exec Chairman leaving also includes this juicy snippet:-

"Pendragon was targeted for a takeover by Hedin Group last September but it backed out in December citing ‘challenging market conditions’.
However, it’s now believed that the Swedish dealer group is circling again after it was reported a week ago that it was looking to raise £110m for acquisitions".
