Loverat, have you read about Tim Baldwin's vehicle going into administration (holding 100 million PFP shares)? Question is - were is the link to the story?

Looks like from reading the other thread that El Generalo is losing the plot?

And some highly amusing comments on the legal situation from 'Stockonomist'. Geography and the law obviously not his strong point!

He really should not invest money in a continent he obviously knows so little about.

Knigel:Either a shorter, a related party himself, or just someone with a contrarian view ( you're allowed)I don't think that there are any disclosed short positions on PFP, and it would be a terrible choice. One of the other 2 categories I think.Mmmm. Kids nearly in bed,so time for Merlot I believe :)

I wish you luck, your points are merely emotive. This a matter of the law of contract, which has already been ruled upon.Have a nice evening .Frankly, with the state if the world economy, we have more important things to worry about in 2014.

John6185, I presume Stock is a serial shorter because he always appears to want shares to fall and "mug" investors to lose money - don't know why...

The agreed contract specifies that the agreements fall under English jurisdiction. You can't change the law if contract retrospectively. In short the relevant jurisdiction has been applied, a decision reached and an attempted appeal rejected.Beyond that legal point, I really can't see a member of the Commonwealth quashing an English High Court ruling.Clearly the General is a National hero and all possible respect will be paid him in the Mozambique court. But the only matter in question here is time. And yes, if I had a commercial contract under Mozambique jurisdiction, then I would expect a Mozambique's court decision to be final. But that is not the case here.Anyway, the courts have and will dictate the outcome here

Ultimately it's a Mozambique asset in Mozambique. So Mozambique laws and Generals will probably win.

I wouldn't want Mozambique courts ruling on UK assets and against UK Generals ? would you ?

What were the defamatory pieces exactly?Personally I trust in the final decision of the English High Court on the matter. Which I'm sure the Mozambique courts will immediately ratify after the recess.I'm not very convinced of what is thought to be gained by the Generals propaganda machine. This is a legal case and not a popularity poll. Frankly I think they are lucky that this outrageous theft has not gone to the criminal courts.

RE: Hill Street Investments Administration

A fellow very knowledgeable shareholder posted the following excellent share buy-back idea on LSE. I have emailed the company and endorsed the idea. It might be a good idea if others do likewise ?

"I see is the news that Tim Baldwin's company Hill Street Investments has gone into Administration and that his shares in PFP, 106 million of them, are held in that company. The Administrators will probably want to sell those shares. IMHO this is a huge opportunity for the Board of PFP to make a decisive move and buy them at a large discount to market value - let's face it, the Administrators can't dump 106 million shares on the open market; Gordon took a full year to sell his 85 million shares that way and he drove the price down from 2p to 0.3p. If the BOD can get these shares cheap enough (and I would suggest at least a 50% discount) and they have the cash to easily do this, then we have a very interesting position. The BOD can seize the General's and Cavaco's shares too as PART payment of the High Court costs awarded in the company's favour. Now that would add up to over 30% of PFP's shares sitting in a Treasury position. I like the sound of that and the share price would rally strongly if it happened. With 40% held by the big investors and the BOD and 30% held in Treasury, the remaining 30% free float would look very attractive indeed. So, over to you BOD, make it happen."

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Hill Street Investments - the vehicle through which Tim Baldwin holds his 106M PFP shares went into administration on Fri. Previously Mel Morris had been running around the city trying to find an off market buyer for the shares, without any success - there would have been a holdings RNS had he managed to sell some. Now the administrators are in, I would expect they will not mess around and will sell through the market the only assets that are marketable - the other main asset being the RAM shareholdling, which thanks to Tim is also in administration

I see this moved up yesterday. It probably will take a little while to move up properly and shake off anyone trying to trade this and allow any stale bulls to cut and run. Looking at the trades yesterday there is one up there where a profit (before commission) of £19 was made. It is the same with alot of mining stocks which I think would move up significantly if it were not for the fact some are folks trading on credit or on tiny sums. In a way I reckon there is a general recovery of sorts underway but is being held back by those who got trapped at higher levels. To make money you have to have some patience and let the expected rise develop.
