They're tax free.

Risky until you get the hang of it.
Took me a couple of years.
Essential tool for me now though.

A must of course in a bear market - to short indices as a hedge against your shares.

I'm circa £40k up on a short on Thomas Cook. Built that position gradually though with trailing stops.

Naked Trader has a good book on spread betting.
You MUST understand exposure.
EG , I have a £200 per point position on PMG …. that's equivalent to holding 20k shares … so about £10k's worth.
For that , with a Spread Bet , I need to put up just £2500 (25%).
It's a specialist subject and I lost about £20k in my first two years of spreadbetting. In fact I was going to write a book entitled 'Spreadbetting Ruined My Life'.
So be careful.

Yes that's a few more than me but not by a huge amount. I don't do spread bets..

Yes 101,000 shares owned plus a spread bet. I think that's a lot.


£1 share price this year, £5 by end next year.

Funny thing is , it's when the price is rising , ie , much higher, that the crowd then arrive and buy in.

At 49p - not many buyers !
Human nature ! That's why most do not make money.

It can be good to trade 50% of your holding here - for the time being anyway.
