remember that in previous cases, other boards/isp's have had the legals thrown at them for comments that appeared on them. Writing on a BB is the same as writing a letter to the sun/times/whatever. If the paper thinks that it will have problems with the letter, it doesnt print it. In this case, ADVFN can't stop the reply before it is published, so they have to do a bit of retrospective pruning.

Its not the MM's role to win or be beaten. Its to make a market, act as a conduit between buyers and sellers. They take a cut on the bid/offer, the try not to be positional at all, unless circumstances force it on them.

When there are only buyers or only sellers, there is not a market in the stock. At this point he will take the heat from the market by opening the spread. Putting the price up is not an option as it merely creates more buyers. His other option is to withdraw from being a MM in this stock.

At Online when we went from 14p to 280p a few years back, thats what happened. one of our MM's pulled out of making a market. I think it was at 35p. In the end I had to sell a huge slug of my stock to give liquidity to the market or we wouldnt have had any MM's.

A MM can simple not be pushed shorter and shorter on a infinately rising price. They facilitate markets.

Regardless of any Marketmakers actions, PPB is going up, and there is nothing more anyone can do about it. End of story.

your memories are very short.

at least one poster said 'lets all bombard winterfoods' with an email.that is harassment.

furthermore,at least poster said 'lets make sure we instruct our broker never to deal with winterfloods again'.

it is naive in the extreme for a group of small private investors to try and take on a city institution without the risk of a fight back.whilst my above
writings are from memory only,they are correct in the tone of the posts.

having said all that,i thought winterfloods would rise above it all.

A posting is only libellous if it is untrue!

In a serious vein, I would encourage holders to vote with their feet and sell off any ADVFN stock. It won't make a big dent, but it will make a stand.

Is it libellous to make observations regarding the huge spread in a share? Does complaining about that fact represent harassment? Strange. Makes you wonder if you have any chance of making money out of shares.

It is a shame that rather than giving individual investors a reply, they chose to cut us off en masse. It seems a rather rude tactic.
