I still stand by the fact that nobody was called on to harass Mr Winterflood. The situation with the spread was ridiculous and we felt that Mr Winterflood had a right to know the situation and how investors felt about it. Surely it would be in his interests to know what was going on in case he did not know. All the emails that were sent to him were courteous and pleasant and I am somewhat disappointed that he felt he couldn't reply to any of the emails and that he felt he was being attacked.

How can we take seriously someone who hasn't even taken the trouble to spell their postings correctly and use decent grammar?

I concede that we are discussing senstitive matters, but nothing libellous has been written, and neither have we posted anybody's address.

You can't unless you're ADVFN of course. I will be very careful what I say on ADVFN BBs from now on because I lost my trust in them today. I always said ADVFN was the best of the best but I regret to say I take that back now. Even this may get deleted, ADVFN might think I'm attacking them! Who knows!

I'll pull any thread where a private individual's address is posted with a call to harass him.

Frankly Im not going to comb 800 posts to delete the 'out of order' ones, one at a time.

Its easy to forget, this is not a private universe and the rules or libel, slander and defamation apply. It may seem like a cozy environment where talk is shared by friends, but in fact the world is watching. What you post here, you may as well be on the back page of the Times.

1) What should an MM do when there is no stock but everyone is buying only?
2) Who should a BB provider support the MMs or the people using service?

The point about WINS being the only firm willing to make a market in this stock for the reasons given does not really stand up when you conisder that:

a) the likelihood of the investor beating the MM is very low,
b) even if the investor got the upper hand by heavy buying, the MM's main tool to counter this is to encourage sellers, ie by raising the bid!
c) what risk does one MM take by moving the bid and offer when he can see all the orders in the market whereas the investor can't?

It seems like a rushed statement - peppered with spelling mistakes. No offence, but it doesn't seem like a very strong argument. The trouble we might be causing is as nothing to the grief that PPB will be giving Winterflood right now, since they had effectively frozen their stock. How else can small listed companies survive?

Apparently Winterflood is the only MM who will deal in PPB as PPB is such a small company. They are not happy with all the buying activity because I guess they feel it is they who will lose out.

I think there is a misunderstanding. The FBB is not a free speach environment. It is a forum for discussion. It is also not a private forum, where people can blow off steam and annoyance harmlessly.

Parts of the thread were considered by us out of bounds and I deleted it on this basis.

PPB followers should remember that the only MM prepared to carry this stock at all are Winterfloods. No one else want to even try to make a market in it.

Without Winterfloods support, there would be no market made in the stock. So pilloring them for it is misunderstanding the situation.

Small illiquid stocks are hard for MM's to make money out of. If a small illiquid stock goes crazy, they have to cool that demand by opening the spread as you can not make a market when there are all buyers and no sellers. Otherwise they have to stop making a market all together and pull out.
