Having taken a case you would want to say it has a high chance of success even if it didn't - to do otherwise is to do a 'Ratner'.Or to put it another way, advertise that you only ever take cases with a high chance of success. Amounts to the same thing.

If their reward is circa 7 or more times investment then they can back many more losers than winners and still make a very decent return!

Riskier,

good analogy. Do they believe yes there is or no there isn't or does 60% belief constitute enough belief to be full belief?

Far more buys than sells again on the LSE at least yet share price still falls.
Still nice imho to pick up shares at sub 3.80p.

It has been like this for some while now although trading can suddenly perk up towards the close.

Should read '... will not take on any case unless they believe they have a 70% or better chance of winning'. Belief is very different from 'sure'. Lots of people have a belief there's a God, not one of them is sure.

HBR, one wants to be backing more winners than losers imo

Calunius will not take on any case unless they are more than 70% sure they can win.

GS,

and the others hanging their hats on the fact that Calunius will win 70% of their cases based on the fact that there's a 70% chance of success. With a 6x increase in funds invested and a 70% chance of winning, I can't equate how Calunius turnover isn't 420% of expenditure.

On that basis If I were Calunius I'd be borrowing money and lawyers from every corner of the planet to find cases that I could throw money at to the extent that for every £ spent I would get back £4.20.

That is surely too good to be true.

As I remember it, they say they wont take on a case unless the claim is for at least 6x their outlay. They usually look to double up on their investment with the occasional 'home run'.

The Calunius fee is on a sliding scale, and dependant on the amount and time taken. So on the basis of time taken it should be at the bottom end of the multipliers mentioned. In the summer they had spent approx 6M add another million to tie everything up 7M on a multiplier of six gives you 42M, so I don't think your Calcs will be far off, and lets face it 42M for a 7M investment is not a bad little earner. Talk of 30/40% of any award is nonsence IMO.

KcoweThe Calunius fee i believe from previous posts is apparently 6 - 8 times funds invested so c. 37 - 50 mn

JH, old territory for some but perhaps new for you, Calunius don't do binary,
and given they have funded up front one assumes they think the claim for not
less than $400m is a fair compensation.

kcowe but its not a guaranteed fast buck is it. A binary bet with the prospect of losing everything to zero.

kcowe, with a seat at the table one may feast on the verdict news, some
may prefer that approach rather than peeping through the keyhole.

True maytrees ... the market in most stocks has been abysmal.. I still would have thought an imminent deal would whet appetites of those liking for a potential fast buck.. who knows .

Could be kcowe
or maybe far fewer PIs now buy shares than used to be the case
or as has been happening recently most trades are in late pm
