Rather surprised with the bounce in covid test counters ( some like Novacyte up over 50% in a week) that this has not seen more focus. One of the key worries about what is transpiring and what might be spreading out of China is whether there are new strains that could overwhelm other countries. Bog standard tests show a positive but do not give an idea on what strain or whether new strains are circulating. China are upping their sequencing and I'm sure other countries will be upping their monitoring too , would imagine this whilst concerning on a public health basis is likely a positive to a company like ONT.

p1nk, I am following ownership closely. Given the fact the sector has historically carried a premium valuation, I am surprised to see large holders sell around this price level.

If the II's are professionals, why weren't they more actively trading when they had the chance when the share price was quite a bit higher?

I am also following the technical side of the co. The advances in accuracy are stunning and the tech dept obviously has a thorough understanding of how to get the best out of the current nanopore tech and chemistry.

Many experienced users reporting 99.9% from duplex sequencing. This is more than enough for most applications. It's come a long way from the 85-90% two or three years ago.

Project TurBOT is especially interesting. Also liquid biopsy. Taking prep free samples direct to the sequencer bypasses the lab completely. It would not surprise me to see a working model at NCM in May 2023

Edit added, 30/12/2022. Crunchbase reporting that Lansdowne have exited ONT.
If so, who has been buying all these shares?

Another annoying possibility is if we are hit with UK tax loss selling too, April deadline.
30 days buyback closed window, might see some sells and later buybacks.

213.5p was intra-week low for 25/9 with a long down wick.
226p might be it.
Only hindsight will let us know but buying within 10% of the bottom possible???

Do we get a washout before year end?
How long to climb back towards even 300p?

1.7M+ today vs 3 month average of about 1M.

Things will likely change if we can get an end of week close above 311.1p although that level could drop in the meantime to something closer.

278p interesting too currently, could also drop.

p1nk, I have just updated post 1 to reflect the recent holding announcements. So much for me basing my volume calcs on Acacia!

I would guess that GT, who have been involved with ONT for a long time, would have let us know in todays notice if they had disposed of more since 4/11/2022.

Just goes to show, the larger players can do what they want tradewise, without worrying about the consequences of not informing the market when they should!

I am currently looking at Lansdowne, as they are renowned for not bothering to keep to their TR-1 responsibilities.

Annoyingly the volume is above the 3 month average today and price down.

GT Cap were below 3% as of 4th Nov, going from 3.01% to 2.99%. Noise unless they have sold down further and no need to announce.

Either there is something we don't know or sentiment will change post new year when US selling abates???

Interesting Bamboo, they held 82,062,114 immediately after the ONT float so this is very interesting to see them increasing, if anybody knows ONT inside out it has to be IPO, so I take as a sign of confidence and hopefully not faith.

bb2, thank you for keeping abreast of this and sharing.
Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy & Prosperous 2023.

Strange they added imho. Might they actually be allocating to increase more immediate shareholder value for once? Good to see.

The last few days has seen many new P2's out of the box, onto the desktop, loaded with Kit 14/R10.4.1 combo. The reports are great eg,

"...Impressive performance of duplex basecalling from nanopore KIT14 and R10.4.1 with accuracy mode of 99.96%..."

"...This is a new era..."

"...Excited to finally get R10.4.1+Q20 & looks like nanopore only assembly is the way to go. Major yield & accuracy boost a bonus..."

p1nk, 2m+ volume today. Using my calcs, that's enough now to have seen the back of Acacia. They may announce, if they want to publicise how well they have done flogging the ex Woodford holding.

A sensor that constantly sniffs the air, searching for the faintest whiff of something dangerous, sounds like science fiction or the world’s most advanced fire alarm.

But, not only will the device soon be a reality, the feats of engineering and ingenuity bringing it into existence mean its potential is enormous.

Air-seq technology provides near-real-time detection and analysis of airborne pathogens. The remarkable technology was developed by Dr Richard Leggett and his group at the Earlham Institute, along with collaborators at the Natural History Museum, London.

The system takes gulps of air, condenses the samples into liquid, and purifies any biological material. This is then sequenced and analysed by an on-board computer.

Their revolutionary set-up will eventually remove the tedious and time-consuming step of sending samples off for laboratory analysis. The idea is that everything can be done on location and linked up to a mobile network, which acts as a warning system if any organisms of concern are detected...

edward, In the UK, Illumina have first mover advantage in lab based genomics. They have been established for around 14 years, compared to two or three years for ONT. They are good at short reads in bulk. They are not so good when it comes to longer reads and the more repetitive areas of the genome. I reckon it's quite likely that the two technologies will be used together, as has been the case in the recently completed T2T project in the US [Karen Miga & co].

==============================================

Looking at the recent volume, and the settlement period, I'm wondering if this week we will see the last of Acacia's sales? They are likely to want to get things done and dusted for their 31/12/2022 year end.
